    3. Our neighbor has a weeping cherry tree (I think that is what she said it is); looks like an umbrella. She has hung plastic Easter eggs all over it. Kids love to look at it.... Neysa ----- Original Message ----- From: marilyn E B To: Memory Lane ; AN-INTERNET-FAMILY@GOOGLEGROUPS.COM Sent: Thursday, April 21, 2011 2:01 PM Subject: [ML] Easter Memories I posted this to another list but thought we might like to share some Easter memories. I remember getting new clothes, usually made by my mother, but also new shoes, socks, and white gloves. I truly wish my family would have taken more pictures but that just was not their habit. >From the time I was 6 - 7, we lived in the country and always had plenty of eggs. I remember learning how to boil eggs in mom's big kettle, usually used for making soups and tomato juice. Mixing colors to get the shades I wanted. Where did we add the vinegar, to make the color take? Writing on the eggs with the little wax pencil and those color transfers for the eggs. Remember the eggs that were not found and squashed later. Dad would take boiled eggs in his lunch for several days so that they were not wasted. How long would a boiled egg stay good in those early refrigerators or an ice box? Somewhere along the way, I learned to blow out the egg. Those were harder to get the color even. We usually used the insides for scrambled eggs. I may do an Easter Tree next year with the blown eggs. If my Dogwood Tree was in the front yard, I would hang them from that. Marilyn -- "If you don't get outside every day, even for a minute, you have not appreciated what God has done. 1. [ML] FW: Lyrid Meteor Shower
    2. ROBERT E PATY
    3. Heidi Ho guys and gals. It's time, again, for the annual Lyrid Meteor Shower which should peak early tomorrow morning. Spaceweather says the optimal viewing time will be in the pre-dawn hours in your local time zone. So if you are up and about (read..bright eyed and bushy tailed) at that hour and have clear skies go out and have a look. Spaceweather suggests dressing warmly (let your local weather conditions guide you here). Best viewing will be accomplished by lying on your back in some kind of reclining chair, OR, placing a heavy blanket on the ground and lying on that. Look straight up and slightly to the East. Expect a fairly bright sky because the old moon was full this past Monday and it will be a force to be reckoned with. You folks living in the northern tier of states and Canada might possibly see some auroras due to a solar CME a few days ago that is reaching our atmosphere at this time. There is a nice photo on the Spaceweather home page. You don't have to click on a link to see it. Forecasters expect the shower to peak on April 22nd with as many as 20 meteors per hour, although visibility will be reduced by bright moonlight. The best time to look, no matter where you live, is Friday morning during the hours before local dawn. 3. You a are so funny. We had rain and wind last night but nothing blew over thank goodness. Woke up in the night with the rain pelting the end of the trailer. It is funny what you get used to with the electricity. sure is dim when you are by candle light or lamp. I don't know how any one had good eye sight reading and doing hand work in lamp light. Yes, if the county can clean it up out of the road have them do it. that is what you pay taxes for. I think. We were out one year for almost three days with a bad storm here in the valley. Had had alot of rain and then strong south wind. We had pine trees at the south end of the yard and it didn't break them off just blew them out by the roots. One landed on the trailer, but wasn't bad, they just went really slow going over. Then down the drive to the main road the neighbors trees went also and they took out the power lines. I called the kids and every one came on Sat. had to go through the neighbors yard and started sawing up. Thank god for your kids some times. One thing we had qite a bit of wood for a while. Also almond wood, Steve had some one come in at work and had lost alot of almond trees and was selling it at about 10 dollars a pickupload all you could get on all cut up. Latched on to that believe me. He even brought it out to us. Well sun is shinning today a little north wind so kind of cold, but no rain. We have had so much this year. Good and bad. Now raining high in the mountains so the snow will melt. A lake that Steve goes to in the summer some of the guys had gone into on snowmobiles and they said the snow was so high they could hardly find the lake. So alot there. gotta go. 3. Sorry, Emma, you've been out of commission for awhile. I've missed reading your posts and had been wondering how you were doing. Glad the MRSA is improving and when you go home, you'll be able to keep that leg swelling under control. I know it's a slow process and discouraging at times. You're in our thoughts and prayers. I hope you'll feel well enough to go to church on Easter Sunday. God Bless you...... juanita ks > I read that Eleanor had been in the hospital. 1. Re: [ML] (no subject)
    2. Doug, Thank you very much. When I was put in the hospital, I was just going to stay long enough to get a prescription for the cellulitis and get a cab back home...but the doctor had other plans. I have 4 cats and I didn't have anyone who had a key to my house to take care of them for me. But they do know a way in and out of the house...they must have gone to my neighbors house and ate...their mama (two of them) stays over there. The couple bought her a special soft bed, a very nice soft blanket and some towels to sleep on. On cold winter nights they would let her sleep in their house...my little stray that I have had for about 7 years is jealous of her and he runs her away from our home....she is 14 years old and the sweetest little mama cat that you would ever want to see. I am so blessed to have neighbors like this. I have thanked them many times and offered to pay them, but they would not take it. They told me that they buy her the best food that they sell for senior cats. Since I have been home, they have stayed very close by me no matter what I am doing. Two of them will only go outside long enough to use the bathroom. The other two are around in the neighborhood, within the distance of hearing a bell that I ring for them to come home. When I learned that my cats were all right, I was all right. The mama cat is 14 years old this month, her two surviving male cats will be 14 years old in September. One will be 12 years old around the first of July and the youngest is 7 or 8 years old...we all understand each other. ;-) I didn't mean to take up a lot of your time. Have a Blessed Day, everybody. They had a doctor of Infection Diseases that was checking me out, because my legs were swollen and a reddish purple in color. Last summer they were so swollen until water would leak out of my legs.
