Doug, I think that is because they were trying to act all la-ti-da, or what ever there. Yes, our family are pretty happy at weddings. Of course there it is if you are dressed the way you should be and all. gees. I am also a hat person,Emma! I love hats and have always loved wearing them, even beach hats--both my grandmothers wore hats with feathers and plumes and veils, back in the forties and fifties and I loved going to the Milliner(I don't know how you spell it)hat shop, to see them pick a hat and what to have put on it-such fun! Now I think the only real "hat day" is Kentucky Derby Day! So glad you are home-hope you are doing better and will have a good spring! Helen
I did not watch any part of the wedding, but was forced to watch news videos of it... it appeared to me that everyone was having problems with their hemorrhoids... have seen more smiles at funerals... <gag> :-)*** On Fri, Apr 29, 2011 at 11:07 PM, ElaineTM <etm1935@gmail.com> wrote: > Certainly those girls have an entire royal family > to look to. Certainly those girls have an entire royal family to look to. Their mother is a major problem and bet they have next to no contact with her. They aren't missing much (anything?) by no contact. I thought the Beckhams were gorgeous. I couldn't figure out why she chose black, but it turned out the outfit was navy blue. I liked the dress since I think her pregnancy is fairly far along. I gather some weren't sure about the dress. I thought it was beautiful. I just wish perhaps it had been in a spring (more wedding-like) color. Elaine "Life is a play, we're unrehearsed. I DVRed the wedding and didn't watch it until this evening, although I will admit to having seen a couple You-Tube videos of parts of it and looking at still pictures too. I loved the dress, but wow! how form fitting. Her sister is beautiful too. The hats don't thrill me, by and large. Connie > > I also watched the wedding and didn't want to miss it. I go home Monday. Praise the Lord. I'm sure ready!!!!! A lot of the hats were outrageous, but there were a lot that I thought were beautiful, but I've always liked hats. I was kind of amazed at the hat that Meradith Viera of the Today Show had on. It was especially made at one of the hat places for her. It looked like a dead squirrel on her head. Didn't really like it much. Maybe you had to see it in person. Or maybe not. There were alot of hats and just all kinds. It was interesting. But loved the going off in the car. Just like the good ol USA. My opinion only, I loved all the hats and dresses, suits etc., very appropriate for a formal occasion-like in days past-when we wore hats and gloves-love the dressed up look. Now people dress terrible-strapless dresses down to their navel and up to their behind-all colors of hair etc., I sure did enjoy looking at all the style on both men and women. I think the Queen was stunning-for an 85 year old lady she looks marvelous! The bride and groom are such good looking people-they were just perfect-Kate is so classy looking-I like the gown and veil-elegant and perfect for her! I really have enjoyed the day and can't wait to hear about tonight's disco party that Prince Harry is hosting for them-bet it will be a blast! I love the Brit's. Helen
Isn't it amazing we have lived this long to see all of this. Just amazing. I also watched it but in reruns through the day. Liked her dress, seemed something she would wear as the lines of her clothes are always more simple. Liked the idea of them going off in the car. That was really nice. Are you home yet. Hope so. I have not seen any comments about the women's hats. They may have been created by some of the couture houses but many were very outlandish. Prince Andrew's daughter's hats were laughable but I feel for those girls, no one to really set an example. That's funny, LeRoi....you being called Hairy. My brother and I had a dad whose birthname was Harry! He had coal black hair and it was still thick with very little gray when he died at 84. juanita > you are so lucky......My hair was not long enough to cut until I was > in the 2nd grade. Yes their hats were a bit ridiculous and I wondered how they stayed on their heads so well without falling off. However they may have had magnets or other things. The filthy rich do have ways to solve their problems. To: memory-lane@rootsweb.com Date: Friday, April 29, 2011, 8:22 PM I have not seen any comments about the women's hats. They may have been created by some of the couture houses but many were very outlandish. Prince Andrew's daughter's hats were laughable but I feel for those girls, no one to really set an example. Well Doug some times a little to much is little. But when you are young a little is not enough. Also when we are millionaires we love to spend, but not only millionaires spend. Such a shame!!! I thank God every day for my life, and every second i can breathe. But i love every minute for so many channels on my TV to change. Viola.
My younger brother never had his hair cut until he was 6 yrs. old and ready to go the 1st grade. Mom cried when she had his curls cut off. and saved them in tissue paper for years. juanita > my sisters youngest son never got his first hair cut till he was going to start kinder garten. Viola.
you are so lucky......My hair was not long enough to cut until I was in the 2nd grade. I started wearing wig when I started in high school. I so agree with you Sharon. I loved the pomp and circumstance and the gown and the uniforms so bright in color. I thought that in some ways Prince Harry almost outshone Wills in his bright blue uniform with all the gold braid and all his God given HAIR. That brings up anohter subject I think that the wedding was well planned because if they had waited another year or two Wills would probably been completely bald and all the lights shining off his bald head would have been hard on peoples eyes. I also hope that Prince William will not turn out to be a pompous ass like his Father.. Dianna was a modern princess and has changed the Royals and the Monarchy wheather they want to admit it or not and she did this through her sons. Dianna was there at the wedding in Spirit. I really do not think that Camilla THE ADULTRESS shoud have been allowed to sit in church so near the ALTAR with Nuns and other holy people. Lets face it DE CAMEL ain't HOLY. I really do think that Prince William and Princess Catherine act like they love each other which makes me very happy as poor Shi DI was used as a brood mare. I have always admired THE QUEEN even though she is apt to be just a little bit on the the Hoidy Toidy side this is how she was taught to be and even she has lossened up over the years and I have been told that she has a delicious sense of humor. I thought that from looking at Prince Andrews daughters that they have turned out to be a little like their their Mother just a bit on the side of Show OFFS. They sure do not look like Prince Andrew at all. I very seldom give my opinion and now that I have gone on and on are you people not glad that I do not. Oh oh Jeannie!! Did they cut off his caracter as well as his muskcles and daily vices<VBG> Is his mom kind of hot headed or headed on her own? All just a joke but i know my sisters youngest son never got his first hair cut till he was going to start kinder garten. His first !!!The first day at scholl all he got asked why how come he got to be a boy when he was a girl before then, guess he was a pretty mixed up little boy for a while. Then i jump down to two of my great grand sons who are ony one yr apart because some one told the teen mom if you nursed you would not get pregnant. It took only one month to find out that was the truth. But from the time they have been old enough they have been duking it out and they are 3 + 5 yrs old and this fall one starts school so one will be a sad little boy. But you cannot beatem!! You Lovem with all you got!! Viola.
I also watched the wedding and didn't want to miss it. It was a beautiful ceremony. I had seen Princess Margaret and Charles and Diana get married and wanted to see this one also.
