Well, you gave us all a laugh for the evening Viola. You may never live that post down <grin>. Neither will one of the men in your family! Hugs, Elaine All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident. --Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860) Hello Viola On Wednesday, May 4, 2011, you wrote > I AM SORRY THIS WAS NOT MEANT FOR THE LIST. > Viola.
Written word that a friend of ours has passed and with that ends all of our chances to communicate with her solely on the basis of what we write, how we write it and how each writing plays a part in the entire collective. We no longer will have a chance to explore a simple comment, see the rebuttal or learn from a person distant from our own venue. We can see her words tho... both the researcher-type and the memory-type comments in the archives - http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/search where you can enter in dws bgs@c ent urytel. net <dwsbgs at centurytel dot net> without the spaces in the FROM field and see all she has given us. The collective is a gift. Many have read the words when they were first posted and many more in the future will see and learn from her advice and offerings. Few of us have such written memories to refer to, to read with new insight and as time continues, we will be able to read and see again, why Bud was received well by the groups she belonged to. As a proponent of written, candid recollections, I noticed in my review of the archive that very often Bud participated on-line in telling of her recollects to the subject of the day. No matter how much research we do, this personal, off the cuff commentary will never be found in libraries or data bases for those that predate the internet..... She gave us a chance to listen and learn. I always appreciated her casualness and ability to say what she was thinking. If you recall, she told us she liked http://potentialwithin.wordpress.com/2008/08/14/my-grandmas-hands-across-the-generations-across-the-net/ and http://www.thedashmovie.com/linda . I can imagine my own grandmother appreciating both of these treasures as well for their words and for their beauty and for their presentation. Bud gave us many gifts. I AM SORRY THIS WAS NOT MEANT FOR THE LIST. Viola.
I meant to post this sooner for those not on Facebook. Barb McCann is hospitalized because of appendicitis. She was rushed to the hospital a few days ago by Kirk, her husband, one evening. The operation was the following day, She has been in ICU but her husband reported today that she is improving and should be moved to a regular room within the coming days. Are you saying the Nursing home has the right to hold people against their and their family wishes??? That is totally against the law in MN. The last time i was in the home the doc said i would be there for the rest of my life because my home was not safe for me. Do you know why my home was not safe for me? Because i do not have a doctor or nurse in it!! Believe that one!! Any way we have what that call Care Programs in the home every three weeks if i remember right, where Therapists,Dietetican, Nutrition, nursing, Breathilizer or breathing test, plus the home doctor. My girls and Allen was there as well. My oldest daughter kinda got dirty looks from her two sisters when she told the doc that my mom said she was coming home whether any one here likes it or not. She said she would crawl out if no other way out. Yes i told my girls that but they were not supposed to squeal on me!!! But any way every one there said i could go home except the doctor. So he lost out and i went home but i had to keep him for a couple of mouths because my doctor retired at 71 yrs of age. But he still worked at the clinic at Any Time Doctor, no appointment needed. But every state should have The Elderly Care Program where if you have a capable care person in your home you can live at home. If i did not have some one with me i would be in the home now because i have my walker but am only allowed to walk from my bedroom to my kitchen door back to my living room once and my heart race goes up to 123 and takes about 15 to 20 minutes to go down now. But i walk it more then once a day. Viola.
Funny thing to think of sex crazy bugs!! But i guess most any thing God made had sex organs, now that is any thing that is run on blood. Uncertain if spiders have blood because it is not red, but could be he wanted to try out white blood as well!! Know my Mother had one that was overly sexed and he really did not care how old it was or what kind of thing it was as long as it had a hole for his sex tool to work with. I can remember hearing that he got caught having at it with a dairy cow at the prison Dairy Barn.. But am unsure if it was the truth or a joke but after hearing and knowing all about his life yes i would believe it. Now this is an awful conversation when i started out on bugs!! Viola.
In the last few weeks Bud and i became good buddies!! But they say the Good Lord always takes the Best ones First. I am sure Bud will live with God. Viola.
>From Dick Eastman's Online Newsletter, dated May 03, 2011 The following announcement was written by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and by Ancestry.com: WASHINGTON, D.C./PROVO, Utah – May 3, 2011 - The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and Ancestry.com today announced the launch of the World Memory Project, www.WorldMemoryProject.org, which will recruit the public to help to build the world’s largest online resource for information on Jewish victims of the Holocaust and millions of non-Jews who were targeted for persecution by Nazi Germany and its collaborators. The project will dramatically expand the number of Museum documents relating to individual victims that can be searched online. The Museum’s archives contain information on well over 17 million people targeted by Nazi racial and political policies, including Jews, Poles, Roma, Ukrainians, political prisoners, and many others. The Museum assists thousands of people worldwide every year that are searching for information about individuals in its collections. The World Memory Project will greatly expand the accessibility of the Museum’s archival collection and enable millions of people to search for their own answers online. “The Nazis’ genocidal policies quickly turned millions of individual lives, filled with hopes and dreams, into massive statistics that are hard to comprehend. Through our partnership with Ancestry.com, we hope to remind the public that the Holocaust is not about numbers but about individuals just like us and to help families uncover histories they thought were lost,” says Sara J. Bloomfield, Director, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. “The Museum’s vast archives contain documentation that may be the only remaining link to an individual life. Preserving these personal histories and making them available online is one of the most powerful ways we can learn from history and honor the victims.” The World Memory Project will utilize proprietary software and project management donated by Ancestry.com, which hosts its own online archival project to expand its transcribed records collections. Once transcribed, the indices will be hosted exclusively on Ancestry.com and permanently free to search. The Museum will also provide copies of documents to survivors and their families at no cost. The original documentation will remain in the Museum’s archival collection. Individuals from anywhere in the world can help in this unique effort to make collections from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum available online by visiting www.worldmemoryproject.org and registering to become a contributor. Since a beta launch in February 2011, Ancestry.com contributors have already indexed over 30,000 Museum archival documents that will soon be searchable at no cost by users around the globe. This figure will multiply as more people participate in the project. “It is an honor to have the opportunity to work with such a respected institution to provide people around the world access to these truly important collections,” said Tim Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer of Ancestry.com. “It is our hope that by making these collections easier to search, victims and their families will finally be able to answer difficult but significant questions about the fate of their loved ones, and in doing so, complete and preserve such significant family stories.” To find out more about the World Memory Project or to learn how to become a contributor, please visit www.WorldMemoryProject.org.
Well, yesterday it was 94 degrees, by ten o'clock in the morning it's almost to hot to do any yard work. I bought three different kinds of mint, going to plant them all in the same pot, close to the outside edge, hoping they hang over the outside of the pot, I think that looks pretty. For the last three years I have been planting plants, Ivy, Impatiens, any small cheap plant I find in a six packs, around the bottom of some of the bigger plants, like tree roses, and other flowering shrubs, I have in large planters around the patio. It really helps in the summer months, to keep the larger plants from drying out during hot days, so I don't have to water them everyday. They also look much more pleasing to the eye, I have been trying to go out early in the morning,[ 7:00 is early for me] and plant while it is still cool. My husband on the other hand is planting vegetables, of all kinds, even though he knows some do not grow very good [for some unforeseen reason], but it keeps him busy and he enjoys playing Johnny Appleseed. The sisters in law are doing good, Barbara the sister in law, they wanted to send to a hospice and die, is doing so good. She has gained all the weight she lost last year and has put on a few extra pounds too. They just bought their first computer, and are busy learning how to use it, but when I was there last week, I also think they are a little afraid of it too. I tried to tell them, use it, better to get stuck on some site, than letting it sit there looking brand new. The oldest sister in law Barbara, turned 86 a month ago, she is also some what of a perfectionist, asked me to find her a cover for the monitor, I looked on line and they don't have any around here, at least not for the the thin, 21 inch. The younger sister in law looks a little thin, and tired, but she wanted to go back to their condo, and so all the work lands on her. They did get a gal who comes in and cleans, does grocery shopping for them, cooks some, and is a all around helper for them, what ever they want done. That's a big help to Marlene, they seem to be doing as best that can be expected, for a 87 year old and a 80 year old. I am getting a little stronger, have a little more energy every day, and am looking forward to going up to the cabin this year. We are thinking of getting a Murphy bed for the living room, I hate the couch that's makes into a bed, I hurt something every time I sleep on it. All the bed rooms are up stairs, where the good beds are, but the bathroom is down stairs, and coming down those stairs in the middle of the night, is down right dangerous for me, half a sleep, and needing to hurry as fast as I can. I am hoping we can spend a great deal of time at the cabin this year, as for last year we only went up twice the whole year, never spent the night, just went up to check on the cabin, to make sure everything was all right. I know I don't write much, but I do try and read every Memory Lane that comes out, not being very active, don't have a lot to write about. Sully, in Sunny and hot Southern California.
