You have my deepest condolences, Grace. This is a sad time to go thru, but ewmwmber, with time, ir gets easier to bear. My husband has been gone 20 years now.Take care,Emma > Date: Sun, 29 May 2011 17:38:30 +0000 > From: wallace80@comcast.net > To: memory-lane@rootsweb.com > Subject: [ML] Dick's passing > > It is with a very heavy heart that I report that my husband of almost 64 years passed Friday about 9:45 at home with all of his family around his bed. He has been going down hill from CHF and renal failure for about six months and lately had not been able to do much besides take care of himself-with a lot of help from me. I have been his full time nurse for about the last 4 months. We went to his nephrologist the previous Friday and he told him to think about diaysis. He was very weak Sat and Sunday and Monday , with my son we made the decision to call 911. He was in the hospital 3 days, came home to hospice and had a peaceful death in about 36 hours. I had to call my daugher to come home from Germany where she was on a very belated honeymoon, my wonderful gandson in law who is a computor whiz with Apple got all the family back. I am blessed with a very loving caring family. Three children, four grand children and their spouses. We are having a memorial service next Sat at our church where he gave and gave and spent some of the happiest hours of his retirement. > > My birthday was the 25th, and I put my ear down to his mouth and he sang happy birthday to me. I had asked God to let him live though that day, and He gave me 2 more days. I will be reading the list, and post when I get my head on straight. I told him I was going to bed on Thursday night and that I loved him, and whispered "I love you" His last words on earth. Lots of wonderful memories. For Richard O. Gathman 2-10-26 to 5-27-11. I asked Buzz about what one could do about the many tornadoes and his answer was simple " NOTHING! " I told him not so fast, I had a theory that I wanted to run by him.....They seed clouds with some sort of chemicals to make them rain...so what if they kept an eye open for bad clouds that looked like it might be a tornado cloud and send a big airplane full of those chemicals to dump on the cloud when it was way out in the country somewhere. wouldn't that make it rain and stop the tornado from forming ? Well, he thought that over awhile and after a few questions about this process he opined that it just might work! IF it didn't work he had one bit of advice...'PRAY!' I told him that was a good plan...He decided to do something about it himself...since he can stop and start rain, so he began his usual annoying prayer" God please don't let tornadoes hurt people and blow away their house " Over and over.... Lets see how that works for you ...For every day you don't get blowed away say a little THANK YOU VERY MUCH to ol Buzz, alright ? Sully and Jim, I am so sorry to hear this, but if he is starting to do better it is all for the good. It should be all on the upgrade now. We hope all goes well from here on out. Sully let your kids help you, don't try to take on the whole load your self. I have been there and the family has to be involved. You don't want to land back in the hospital. I have always said when a loved one has a heart attack, the whole family has it. When Ken had his in 1984 we didn't have a clue of what was going on. Have to have faith in your Dr. But if you have questions don't be afraid to ask. Always ask any thing you don't understand. Some times they don't talk people talk and you have to have them talk in our language. My prayers are with you. Buzz, we hear you are staying with your granny, well you be good to her and help her evey way you can. We have heard you called Buzz for so long, what is your real name? Are you going to be doing this week? I don't have any grandbabys to be staying with me. They are all grown up. The great grandbabys are to far away. So kind of lonsome some times. It was always a fun time when they did. We would go to the lake and fish and do things like that. You take care now and be good boy for your granny and papa. hugs Louise

Yep, Buzz has finally run out of sugar..er.. energy...thanks to a doting Papa...and has hit the foam and feathers, as Son said one time. I just asked him if he was asleep and he said "Yeah .....................I'm talking in my sleep." I look forward to the days ahead with a mixture of fear and joy..Joy in his antics and fear that I'll want to choke his little gizzard out at times....Wish me luck!
