'Twas a gloomy day up here on the ridge...Fierce winds blew straight East the streamers of ivy on the big Maple tree out front, and rain covered the windows till we couldn't see out. I swore to hubby it looked like the big window was getting covered with ice, he said it was too warm ..in the 50's...and went and checked to make sure...It was just rain...We stayed in today, except I went out early and go the paper...Have spent quite a bit of time watching the weather in the last few days..feeling bad for those folks all snowed in up East...they oughta move South..Oh wait, how about that huge tornado that tore through the South ? Guess theres no place you can go to get away from it all...Sigh...I just made up a huge pot of potato soup and we sat in our matching recliners in front of the TV and watched the Tennessee boy win the big golf game out in California...Lots of dolphins, seals, sea birds etc. to watch in the beautifully blue ocean nearby , in SUNSHINY weather....Jeannie T ____________________________________________________________ How to Sleep Like a Rock Obey this one natural trick to fall asleep and stay asleep all night. http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/5118954ab7874154a0ccast02duc

Johnny was a developer when he got the mayor's job...Luckily for the city, because a tornado blew away our historic downtown area within a month or so, and Johnny knew just who to call and how to get things done. He rubbed a few people the wrong way, but he got the job done and now it's restored and beautiful again....I imagine he's back to wheeling and dealing in the real estate development game...I don't rub elbows with that crowd...Jeannie T ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On Sat, 9 Feb 2013 11:19:44 -0500 "Neysa" <[email protected]> writes: > Sounds like they have found a good use for retired mayors. > Neysa ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> > Our retired mayor { Johnny Piper} was finishing up his supper at a > local > Pub, when someone came running to get him..Another diner, a local > Realtor, was in bad shape..choking, apparently..Johnny and his > lawyer/preacher friend{Yeah, I know, a man who's a lawyer AND a > preacher? > Just don't compute, does it?} ran over there and he had someone > call 911 > while the lawyer prayed and the ex Mayor...who had no > training..used a > sort of Heimlich maneuver on the Realtor and he was OK...made us > kinda > wonder if restaurant/pub employees shouldn't have some sort of > training...JneT ____________________________________________________________ How to Sleep Like a Rock Obey this one natural trick to fall asleep and stay asleep all night. http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/51172c81c4c862c816c14st02duc
Glad to hear you guys are ok. We got 26 inches officially; not as much wind as we were supposed to. Will be a while before our roads are back to normal. Sven has shoveled the truck out, in case we had to go somewhere; my poor car probably won't be out until April!! But I won't need it with the truck out. Glad to hear every one's doing ok with your storms. think it was a good idea to close the roads if not people are always out there and causing accidents. Do you and your friends have ways to keep warm, get water, and food for an extended period of time? I assume some folks still don't have electricity or heat from Sandy? Most folks around here are totally hooked into the grid, even tho we live in TN.. WE have a gas cook stove, and a kerosene heater in reserve..but kerosene would be a problem after we used our reserve can...I have enough food to last weeks...and can improvise....Plenty of warm clothes...but no way to burn wood ....Son has a fireplace...but lives too far to help us. Hubby knows how to make a stove from a barrel, so I guess we could survive...I figure if it ever snows that much here we are doomed anyway ! A couple of kids{ one was 15} got turned around while playing in the woods near Nashville...Lost in Rough woods...A few guys searched awhile, but then they brought in a heat seeking deal in a plane and found them right away..Pretty darn clever of some of us ignorant hillbillies, huh ? Why didn't they use this method to find the cop killer dude? They should be able to check census records on the computer and only check the woods or homes that had too many large 'blobs'. Surely if WE can do it , those cool laid back clever Californios could do it....Sully, wonder if you should call the cops and tell them you are NOT going to be in your cabin and give them the names of your neighbors so they could see if THEY are gonna be up there? We have thunder, lightening, and hail. The cats came running in, just as it started to hail, the dog was barking, and I sat back with a smile on my face drinking my morning coffee. Our storm is nothing like Nemo, but for us it's a little excitement, for we seldom get hail. I was glad for the rain,it poured and poured, all the plants got a good soaking. My husband went out to Home depot yesterday and bought some grass seed, spread it out on all the lawns, so the rain could soak it in, give it a good start. What I love the most is, tomorrow the air will be clean, best smell in the world, the day after it rains. My granddaughter called she coming over today, we getting take home Chinese food for dinner, she brightens my day, and I love having her here. Maybe tomorrow we will bake something, red velvet cake or chocolate fudge ???? Have a good evening everyone !!! Sully,in rainy California
