We too had over and inch of rain last night and wish to thank whomever is responsible. Of course today, we have gale force winds, which will dry out the soil.. <sigh> I also wish only the best for you Robert. I also had shoulder surgery a few years ago. The surgeon also said my shoulder would never e the same but he was wrong. As far as I am concerned, the shoulder is quite normal. I would not want to go thru that again, but would if I had too. I am much like you Shirley. Lay awake at night and wonder about the future after Sherry is gone. I hate the thought of it but would probably stay here at the ranch. I can't imagine the loneliness but also can't imagine living anywhere else. For the past few months I have not gone out and done what needs doing. I suppose that after losing Sherry I'll play catch-up. Without question, it won't be the same.... <megasigh> Yesterday I had a new hunter pay a visit. He brought his entire family out to do just whatever. Such a nice man and such a beautiful family. A nice wife and two beautiful young girls. I look forward to having them visit the ranch. Still ne news about the fellow that shot and killed his wife. I suspect he won't be coming back. I pray that his remaining family will fond peace. Such an incredible tragedy. Be well my friends. Be happy. Good Morning Dear Friends It's beautiful day, we got over a inch of rain here, I won't have to water for about 5 days. They say we will be under high pressure for several days, we are going to warm up, but that means wind, so that will dry out everything. But today is so beautiful, no clouds, into the 70's, and I will be able to get out into the garden. We ate late, so made breakfast burritos, put everything in them, but the kitchen sink. I think we'll skip lunch, and just make a early dinner, although with the time change (maybe that's why we weren't hungry earlier) and I won't be able to make it too early. I have some Chinese dumplings, maybe I'll make them for a snack? tide us over till dinner! I am also thinking about your shoulder surgery, Robert, hope it goes well, and you get full use of the shoulder after your Rehab !!! My husband had shoulder surgery two years ago, it wasn't all he hoped for, but the surgeon came out and showed my boys and I pictures they took of the inside of the area, and he had so much arthritic, I think from all the rebar he carried on his shoulder when he first went into ironwork. Some of his friends keep telling him to go get it done again, but the older you are when you have surgery, the harder it is on you, and the rehab time is longer. So he doesn't think he wants to go through it again, he told me "I don't plan on doing much that I need a new shoulder for" his words not mine !!!! But I am rooting for you Robert, hope all goes well and your back outside doing Yard work by late summer, or at least early Fall. I have been watching House Hunters on HGTV for about three weeks now and I see that our housing market is WACKY here in California, especially here in Orange County, 3 bedroom, 2 bath homes, can't find anything move in ready, for under 450 thousand dollars, and something with all up grades, baths and kitchen, are upward and over 550 thousand, and that's not in the prime locations. In a lot of the states, if your willing to move into the suburbs, you get so much more for the dollar. But I am to old to change now, all my children live here, and who knows, I know we will need their help in the not to distance future, if not just to check up on us from time to time. If something happened to my husband, I wouldn't want to live in this house by myself, I would have to have my children help me decide where and what to do with my GOLDEN YEARS ( I don't know what's golden about them ???) Some times when I wake up in the middle of the night, and lay there, my thoughts go to how old we are, and the health problems we have now, and how they are only going to get worse, SCARY. But than I wake up, the sun is shinning, I make the coffee, sit and drink my first cup looking out into my garden ,with all the flowers that are already blooming, and think of what I am going to plant in a month, and all's right with the world. So all of you my cyber friends, have a good Sunday !!! Sully, in Sunny California
Doug, I think Marilyn is the person to thank for the rain, she was offering just yesterday. But I didn’t take her up on it, we have enough. Golden years, Shirley? Ha! I thought for sure we were going to be different from everyone else. Not so much. Do any of you eat steel cut oats? How do you make them ... I’ve made them and haven’t appreciated them, but would like to try again, just because I’m stubborn. Connie We too had over and inch of rain last night and wish to thank whomever is responsible. I SAW that about the dust storm . Geez, what next? {Sorry I asked that...hope no ne was listening! }We've got TOO much water in the soil here...luckily for us we just garden around wire cages and on short fences, so don't have to worry about waiting till the ground dries up and tilling the entire thing... I'm already feeling antsy about your upcoming surgery! My oldest brother in law is gonna have shoulder surgery soon, also. He's already a grouchy Gus , but stays in his shop piddling or is in his truck working here and there..mostly gratis, so we don't know how Sis is going to put up with him during that long convalescence on his dominant arm......Sigh..better her than me...I tell ya! Please add my name and location to your list Marilyn as we really need it and already have had a few fires. Location is Central Florida or Port Orange to be more specific. This year we have had fires and sink holes. Holy Cow. The optimal viewing dates are rapidly approaching for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. go to http://www.spaceweather.com for photos (some are better than others), and sky maps. You will be looking West just after sunset (weather permitting). The comet should be visible to the naked eye and close to the crescent moon on the evening of March 12th. Should be a lovely sight for any of you who have clear skies on these dates: 3/12, 3/13, 3/16, 3/17. On the first two dates the comet will be to the left side of the setting sun. It will be on the right side on the next two dates. It will be too close to the sun on 3/14 and 3/15 and will not be visible. Robert E Paty, Scottsdale, AZ aka Mad Hatter
We had rain, wind, and hail yesterday. No snow this time but it hailed so heavy in some places that it looked like the ground was covered with snow. Not large hail stones, just pea sized. I had a little bit of hail at my house around noon yesterday. Mine was more like rock salt and melted within a few minutes of hitting the ground. It rained just about all day. We had about an hour of sunshine before noon then the rain and wind came. Wind was steady, about 40 mph. Enough to blow the rain sideways. The west side of the valley had a dust storm which turned into a mud storm when it started raining. All of the spring training baseball games were cancelled. Tents were blown down at the annual ostrich festival in Chandler. After the wind died down around 4:00 they were able to put the tents up again and the festival resumed.I was able to get into the back yard this morning to check and empty the rain gauge. It had one inch in it. The ground got a good soaking so I won't have to water anything before the middle of next week. No wind damage here but electricity was out for more than 8,000 customers on the west side due to trees being blown down onto power lines. I went outside a few minutes ago and walked down to the end of my driveway. By the time I got there it had started to sprinkle again. We will probably get more rain today. Sure wish I could export some of it to The Dougster down in Texas. Got to get on my way now. I have an appointment with my barber in twenty minutes and it will take about 10-15 minutes to get there. When I get a chance I will run it on my laptop, Robert. Rain usually makes me sleep unless there is a lot of lightning and thunder. However when I wake up during the night I cannot find anything good on television and I also get the munchies but have to watch it as I am a big fat Diabetic so I cannot have more than one Gingersnap and a glass of milk. It was raining here when I got up at 5:30 this morning. Not a hard rain like yours, more like a steady sprinkle...sometimes light and heavy at other times. It is almost 9:30 now and it hadn't been raining for nearly an hour. I stepped outside to have a look around and no sooner than I got out in the open it started to rain again. Clouds are pretty solid and the prediction is for rain to continue pretty much all day long with a possibility of hail before it is over and done with. Sure am glad I don't have to go anywhere today. Don't like to be out in this kind of weather. Did the necessary grocery shopping yesterday while it was clear, sunny, and warm (81 degrees). Predicted high today is 60. It might not make that. I think I will probably go back to bed and read. No doubt I will fall asleep doing so. I did finally get over that nasty virus I picked up at the end of January. I have now re-scheduled the surgery on my right shoulder. The earliest date I could get is April 12. I still need to get two heart tests which are scheduled for March 19th and will have to have the pre-op stuff that my primary care doctor ordered. I had this done back in January but it is outdated now so will have to be done again. I am going back to bed, to see if I can sleep. > > > Sully, in rainy California !! > > > > > > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mbousman1/memory.htm > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
I woke up, the rain was so loud on the roof, it's 2:20 AM, way to early for me. If it keeps raining like this, we better get our boat out of the garage, because we are going to need it. We have Direct TV, I am not sure how many channels, but lots, maybe 100 at least, and I couldn't find anything that I thought was interesting last night. Must be me, funny mood I guess !!! I am like you Doug I wish she would send some rain down here to Central Florida because we are having some bad fires already and I do not want another 1998. I do hope that Sherry will continue to stay out of pain and keep increasing her food intake. Sully send some of your rain to us and stay healthy. God Bless. Annette. ________________________________ From: Doug Crim <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, March 4, 2013 4:30 PM Subject: Re: [ML] Rain coming ??? Hidy Ho Shirley... It's always nice to hear from you. While chili sounds good, since I'm having to cook for one, it'll be a while before I make another pot of chili.... since we seem to be getting a cold front every other day, chili sounds great. When you get thru with the rain will you send it our way? Things are getting mighty dry around here. I truly hope you aren't getting sick.. got my fingers crossed for you there. Things are going fairly well here. Sherry seems to be past most of the pain she has been in and has actually begun to eat a little more than she has in the past few months, which is a good thing. She has a new medication that is supposed to increase her appetite but she doesn't like the taste <grrrrrrr>.. Perhaps that will change. Last Thursday, she had an infusion of fluids, along with some other once-a-month drug, and she has felt better than she has felt in ages... Today she's not feeling all that great. We have another appt. tomorrow and hopefully they will give her another infusion of fluids. The more dehydrated she gets, the worse she feels. We'll see, we'll see. Meanwhile, take care of yourself... Mid-air Refueling Not what you'd expect...... A somewhat different type of Air Refuelling than that which we are used to seeing - not a noisy VC10 anywhere to be seen!! Really beautiful. This is totally awesome! < http://www.youtube.com/v/pd5BMP_41bI%26rel%3d0%26hl%3den_US%26feature%3dplayer_embedded%26version%3d3> "
I lived in the Windy City for about 10 years, so know your weather well...Have seen folks wearing coats every month of the year, best I recall. We didn't even have a fan most of the time we lived there, and Air conditioners were unknown...That breeze off the Lake, you know...Good luck on your trip to the wedding! I'm in the same boat as far as not recognizing today's young stars and bands...I think I gave it all up a few years back when Hootie and the Blowfish were popular. They are all just SO generic...voices the same in the singers, interchangeable stars on the screen...All of this is just my opinion, and younger folks may not agree...I remember Cary Grant, a young Sean Connery, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe..etc. Wish I had kept my huge scrapbook on Marilyn...Sigh... Hubby is like yours...doesn't know one flower from another or what area they need to be planted in. His most maddening statement 'Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained' when I tell him what needs full sun to grow and he insists on planting it in the shade. Once set out a weeping willow at the base of a Pine tree.....He also doesn't understand that plants need space instead of cramming as many as he can get into a small space....Shoots water around the plants with no concept that it needs to water deeply, etc.....We had all the Bermuda grass out of the garden..I got so disgusted at his taking over I just quit going to the garden almost entirely..it is now full of that cursed grass again...Oh well, you've been there and done that....Just hope he decides to STAY in the back yard and leaves the garden to my crippled attentions....Jeannie T ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On Tue, 5 Mar 2013 13:57:59 -0500 (EST) Shirley Sullivan <[email protected]> writes: > For sometime now, I have been aware that I no longer know the names of young actors and actress. I love a beautiful garden, and enjoy working in my garden, it's good exercise, keeps me strong (I have lots of muscle in my arms) and my doctor says a strong women, is a healthy women. > > > Sully in Cloudy and Cold California, rain is coming !!!! ____________________________________________________________ 30-second trick for a flat belly This daily 30-second trick BOOSTS your body's #1 fat-burning hormone http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/5136e1ce1c05d61ce2850st02duc
