Please help me...have headstones reading: John E. Loyd 07-30-1813/10-26-1891 SS Winnie E. Winnie M. Loyd.............(sometimes found Winnie "E." sometimes "M") 11-18-1821/06-14-1893 SS John E. what does the "SS" stand for? Cannot be the "Surviving Spouse"....have several of these. Also cannot be "Sworn Statement" in SS John E. since John died 2 years before his wife Winnie. I've seen SS on ships, which I think means Supporting Ship. Anyone know?
