The only mention I have of this is in a poem by Emily M Rice, published in the Halifax newspaper, that says "[in Portland] ... he was killed by falling iron, cut off without a word..." I am trying to find out who Emily is so that I can determine her connection with Joseph. The language of the poem seems to imply that he connection is with Portland rather than Halifax...
