David Drinkwater, the son of Joseph Drinkwater (Elizabeth Haskell, Patience Soule, George Soule) and Jane Latham were born Ca 1750 [C12:5] in North Yarmouth (now Yarmouth) in York Co., (now Cumberland Co) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (now the State of Maine) and bapt there on Nov. 3 1751. He and Rachel Farrar, both of N. Yarmouth, filed their marriage intentions there on Oct. 15 1774 and were m. there on Nov 15 1774. She was b. on Sept 11 1749. Capt. David Drinkwater and Sarah Pomeroy, both of North Yarmouth, filed their marriage intentions there on May 1 1819 and were m. there on May 29, 1819. He d. on June 30 1824 ae 74 and Rachel d. on Feb 11, 1803 [C12:5]. They are b. at the Ledge Cemetery in Yarmouth, Maine, where I copied their inscriptions. Their daughter, Almira, is b. with them. Capt Drinkwater settled in N. Yarmouth. "Old Times n North Yarmouth" states Residence: North Yarmouth, Maine. He lived in the old Gray House, now standing near Charles W. Mitchell's. One record states he settled in Portland, ME., which is incorrect. His s. David, did and was b. there in the very old Eastern Cemetery. In 1785 David was assigned "Eare Marks" for hi cattle (north Yarmouth Town Records, Vol. 1:608). The records say "Two slits in the top of the Left Ear, and one in the top of the Right."
