He was probably born in the earlier 1760s. Might he have been a member of one of the Cumberland county Hicks families? The names of several of his children suggest that he might have been a younger son of Lemual Hicks of Falmouth (b. 1715) by 2nd wife (m. 1752) Martha Cox. (Known children of Lemuel and Martha include Lemuel jr, Hannah, Samuel, James and Martha.) Any info or tips would be welcome!
