    3. Hello Listers. I wonder if anybody has come across Oliver Berry, I know he died in 1923/24, his wife's name was Emma. They are buried in South Portland. I would like to know where he came from and a little about them. They were foster parents to my father. Any help or suggestions where I might begin my search would be appreciated. PS: I've tried all the sites, or at least I think I have, the major ones anyway. Thank you...George

The Nova Scotia Mailing list people tell me that there is no such place as Gardener Nova Scotia, but there is a Gardener in Maine. I am hoping that someone can help locate my grandfathers parents names and information please. My grandpa told everyone a different story about his family, so no one knows for sure. The following is what I have been able to piece together about his family. My Grandfather was born on the east coast, possibly Gardener, on July 25, 1910. Around the age of 10 to 12 he moved with his family to North Battleford, Saskatchewan. This family was homesteading north of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada. They had horses and cattle on their farm. My Grandpa ran away from home around the age of 15 or 16 and never had any contact with his family ever again. He never told anyone why he ran away from home. My Grandpa told his children, (my aunt's and uncle) that he had a brother named Mitchell, a sister named Evelyn and one named Carolyn. Eveyln was suppost to have married and lived in the Detroit area. The possible names of his parents are Mitchell or Michael Ross and Katherina Ross (nee Roach). He might have had other siblings, but I know of no one else. Any information regarding this family would be very appreciated. Please contact me at rsgabriel@shaw.ca Thank you Carol Gabriel

    1. [MECUMBER] Where to go
    2. Nancy Coffin Libby
    3. My. gr. grandmother was married at 14 in 1862. Either her husband left, joined the army or something but she was remarried by a minister in 1869; and her husband showed up married to her aunt in Pniladelphia in the 1870 Census and on. In Cumberland County where would I go In Portland to find a copy or record of the divorce or annulment (I hope). What is the address and will they do the search even though you do not know the exact year? Thank you. NCLibby Nancy C. Libby nancycl@gwi.net

    3. I'm planning on going to the Portland Public Library tomorrow(Friday) morning. I'll be doing look-ups in the Portland directories. If anyone would like me to do a look-up, please send names and year ranges to look-up. I will look up as many names as you would like. If there are lots of names, I will just copy the pages and mail them along to you. Please keep in mind the directories start in 1827 and every year is not covered. Here are the years that are covered: 1827, 30, 37, 44, 47-48, 50-51, 52, 53, 56-57, 58-59, 63-64, 66-67, 69, 71, 73, 75, 77, 79, 84, 85, 86, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 1894-2001. Deaths are recorded starting in the 1884 directory, but cover 1883 deaths, also. Sandra
