I have had another offer of prints from Kathleen, and she hopes to take photos this weekend. If you are going to the cemetery anyway, I wouldn't say no to a few digital prints as well. Those I could email to my son-in-law. I don't have a scanner so it's hard to send photos to others. Many thanks to you and Kathleen for your very kind help. I really appreciate it. All the best, Pat PS...the Mill is owned by a distant relative. We aren't acquainted with them.

Also the grave of Arthur Leon Saunders, buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, 19 Mar 1950. At the grave of Arthur, there is also a plaque for his grandson, Douglas Eugene Saunders who died Oct 1, 1987. Douglas was the father of my son-in-law. Any help that you can offer, will be so very much appreciated. All the best, Pat in Jamesburg NJ

Hi Maynard, I am not researching either of the two families you mentioned, but my ancestor Josiah Dunn was one of the early settlers of Bakerstown Plantation (now Poland), and I can offer the following: The Poland Centennial produced in 1895 states: "John Nevens was the eldest son of Hugh Nevens, who was of Scotch descent, and came to this country in 1730. He first settled in Gloucester, Mass., where he remained until about 1760, when he removed to New Gloucester, Maine." " His son John, the pioneer settler of this section, was born in Gloucester, Mass. in 1743, and married Mary Pring of the same town in 1767,...." ....."They left a family of five daughters ...." [only two married] "... Mary, born October 2, 1771, married Nathaniel Small, of Minot, now Auburn. They had nine children. She died January 13, 1852. Her husband died in 1824." The booklet mentions Mr. Addison Small, of Lewiston who is a great-grandson of Mr. Nevens as providing many interesting historic papers covering the early settlement of Poland. This Addison would be a grandchild of Mary and Nathaniel Small. I hope this provides some assistance. SURNAMES: COLE, JEWETT, MAXFIELD, SIMPSON, TUCKER Does anyone on this list know anything about a JEWETT (possibly Wm or Bill) who married Marguerite MAXFIELD about 1925. ? I believe they had only one dau, Patricia/Pat b about 1926. I do not recall Pat's married name, but believe she had at least one son poss b abt 1945 or so. Marguerite had an older sister, Violet, an older brother, Phil, and a younger sister, Virginia, who married a SIMPSON ? (had a snack place, possibly out Old Orchard Beach way late '40's - early 50's, possibly out Falmouth Foreside way after the new route 1 was finished). Their parents were Harry MAXFIELD and Elvira E (Ellie) COLE. To the best of my knowledge they always lived in Portland, possibly also Westbrook. The last I knew, Marguerite was running a rest home for elderly people (on West St ?) in the 1960's in Portland. Marguerite's mother, Elvira E (Ellie) COLE MAXFIELD, widow of Harry, had operated the rest home before Marguerite took it over. Uncle Harry's mother, Sarah TUCKER, was a sister of my G gm Mary Jane (Jenny) TUCKER COLE. However, I believe Marguerite MAXFIELD JEWETT may have been living ne of Portland following retirement (around Falmouth or Cumberland ?), perhaps in the 1980's. Marguerite was my mother's (Bernice F COLE ROBBINS) first cousin and I am tring to find all the descendants of my great grandparents, Sylvester COLE and Mary Jane (Jenny) TUCKER. I would appreciate any help in locating any children, gch, or G gch of Violet, Phil, Marguerite, or Virginia. Marguerite was b abt 1906. Janice
