    1. [MECUMBER] Funerals/Baptisms by Rev. Haskell 2nd Congregational--Falmouth
    2. I recently found a small notebook which records funerals performed by Rev.William Henry Haskell in the years 1887-1904. There is also a record of baptisms for 1902-1903. Rev. Haskell was minister of Second Congregational Church in Falmouth during those years. Are these records something that would also be on record at the church or are these something that should be transcribed? Peggy Haskell Moss

Especially do you have any connection with an Edward James Kimball (b 1860) or James Edward Kimball – he is our great-grandfather and took the name Kimball around 1900. He was actually born James Edward Perch/Patch, son of Lucy Hartford (b1845) and father of the same name. The family is located in Bridgton, Denmark, Lovell areas c.1866 to 1925. According to family stories, the young man lived with "Aunt Hannah Kimball" and probably took the name as respect for her. It's a puzzling mystery and will only be solved thru some happy coincidence, such as you might provide. Thank you for considering my inquiry. Warm regards, Devon Gray

I'm not sure if there is a "book" as this is just typed information (1977) and was included in the Red Books of the Soule gathered information. I'm also not sure if Mr. Maguire might still be alive. This information was compiled with the Soule information and I copied it because I come from that area and also have not direct connection to the Drinkwater name. There were a lot of Drinkwater's buried in the Foreside Community Church I belonged too. I'm in a different state now but my family is there in Falmouth/Cumberland/Yarmouth, etc. If you would like me to copy it I'd be glad too. Just use my email address and send to me personally. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JEB.2ACE/519.2 Message Board Post: I believe that, although there was an earlier Reuben DRINKWATER, born to David & Rachel (FARROW) DRINKWATER 15 Nov 1775, the Reuben that went to Ohio with brother Reuel was a son of Daniel & Rebecca (FISHER) DRINKWATER. I am further making the assumption that the g-g-grandfather of a living person was the one born in 1797 rather than 1775. Vital Records of North Yarmouth, Maine to the Year 1850 (Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Rhode Island); 1980 (republished by Picton Press, Camden, Maine in 1993) lists the birth dates of the children of Daniel and Rebecca (FISHER) DRINKWATER including Reuben born 12 Oct 1797. The entry references the original North Yarmouth town book vol. 2 page 8. These ledgers are what we have for vital records since no birth certificates were issued in those days. Augustus W. Corliss, Old Times of North Yarmouth, Maine (Somersworth, NH: New Hampshire Publishing Company; 1977) states on page 1146 that this Reuben died in Ohio but provides no date or citations. There is a Reuben DRINKWATER on the 1830 Cumberland, Cumberland, Maine census, age 30-40, who appears to be single. There is a Reuben DRINKWATER listed on the 1840 census for Adams, Seneca, Ohio who is between the ages of 40 and 50. In his household is one female between the ages of 15 and 20. He appears on the 1850 census for Adams, Seneca, Ohio, age 53, farmer, born Maine, as Rhewben Drinkwater with the following household, all last name Drinkwater: Sarah, age 27, born Ohio (could be the 15-20 year old in the 1840 census); Rhewben, age 11; Rebecca, age 9; James, age 5; Ruel, age 5; and Catharine, age 2. He appears again in the 1860 Adams, Seneca, Ohio census, age 62, with a housefull of children; Reuben, age 19; James, 15; Ruel, 12; Catherine, 10, Sarah, 8; William, 6; [?]ison, 5. In this household there is also 31 year old Mary Ware keeping house. Her age matches that of the 15-20 year old female in the above 1840 census but does not establish that she is the mother of these children. The adult Sarah from the 1850 census is no longer mentioned. There also appear to be two of Mary's children; Floy Ware, 3; and Haty Ware, 1. All of the children show born in Ohio. (This 1860 census would lead one to believe that Sarah (DRINKWATER) was no longer in the picture after the birth of [A]lison ca. 1855.) He is again in the 1870 Adams, Seneca, Ohio census, age 72, with family; Reuben, 29; Clara, 26 (born MI); Reul, 3 (born MI); Elmer, 7-1/2 months? (born MI); William, 17; Alison, 15. Neither Mary Ware nor any other older woman appears in this household. Next door is Ruel, 22; Emma, 22 (apparently his wife, born in Ohio.) James, 30 is also in Adams living separately with his family; Emma, 27 (born in Ohio; Reuben, 6; June, 3. While his brothers and sisters are listed in the marriage and marriage intentions sections of the North Yarmouth VR book, Reuben does not appear there; perhaps he married elsewhere (Ohio?). The 1850 census shows Sarah, age 27, born Ohio but, although Reuben, Sr.'s children show up in Ohio marriage records, I have not been able to find a marriage record for him. Reul, his brother, born 4 Nov 1885 published intentions to marry Betsy York of Falmouth 27 Jan 1810, later published intentions to marry Deborah Kent of Vinalhaven 10 Jul 1819 and then published intentions to marry Sarah Whitcomb of North Yarmouth 31 Aug 1827. These are on page 151 of the VR book citing the original records 2:29, 2:45 and 2:56 respectively. Reul is listed as a sea captain in his intentions to marry. --Paul Noyes-- http://www.gencircles.com/users/noyes/2

Note: The fact that the above four (4) Drinkwater brothers did, indeed, remove to the now State of maine (which at the time was still part of Mass.) can be clearly documented by the early Instruments and Land Records which this compiler found record at the York County Registry of Deeds at the York Co. Court House in Alfred, Me., for the years 1729 through 1760. Therefore, additional data concerning these four brothers, based on additional information found in the VRs and other sources follows. David Drinkwater, the son of Joseph Drinkwater (Elizabeth Haskell, Patience Soule, George Soule) and Jane Latham were born Ca 1750 [C12:5] in North Yarmouth (now Yarmouth) in York Co., (now Cumberland Co) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (now the State of Maine) and bapt there on Nov. 3 1751. He and Rachel Farrar, both of N. Yarmouth, filed their marriage intentions there on Oct. 15 1774 and were m. there on Nov 15 1774. She was b. on Sept 11 1749. Capt. David Drinkwater and Sarah Pomeroy, both of North Yarmouth, filed their marriage intentions there on May 1 1819 and were m. there on May 29, 1819. He d. on June 30 1824 ae 74 and Rachel d. on Feb 11, 1803 [C12:5]. They are b. at the Ledge Cemetery in Yarmouth, Maine, where I copied their inscriptions. Their daughter, Almira, is b. with them. Capt Drinkwater settled in N. Yarmouth. "Old Times n North Yarmouth" states Residence: North Yarmouth, Maine. He lived in the old Gray House, now standing near Charles W. Mitchell's. One record states he settled in Portland, ME., which is incorrect. His s. David, did and was b. there in the very old Eastern Cemetery. In 1785 David was assigned "Eare Marks" for hi cattle (north Yarmouth Town Records, Vol. 1:608). The records say "Two slits in the top of the Left Ear, and one in the top of the Right." Eight (8) children are records in the VRs to David and Rachel Drinkwater. No children by his 2nd wife. 62791 The Drinkwater Family of Cumberland Co., Maine by Donald H. 1. Re: [MECUMBER] Hello!
    2. Deborah Johnson
    3. Nona - I first looked for her in the SSDI and it appears she never married. It gave me a birth year of 1910. I checked, 1930 first to see wether she was married by then and came up with one Arla Haskell b. 1909 (est. on census) when I looked at the image, it was Aola, not Arla, here's what it says in 1930: Haskell, Charles R., M, W, 43, M@22 yrs., Mass, ME, Mass, Ship Hand Rose E., F, W, 38, M@18 yrs., ME, ME, ME Aola F., F, W, 20, S, ME, Mass, ME, Clerk Robert J., M, W, 17, S, ME, Mass, ME, Enlisted Man, US Navy Charles M., M, W, 15, S, ME, Mass, ME Eugene L., M, W, 13, S, ME, Mass, ME I checked for them in 1920 also, same thing, she's Aola on the census. Interestingly enough, there was an Oscar D. Haskell, 2 years younger than Charles, also born in Mass. I checked him out in 1920 no Frank for a son. Then I thought, well heck, to have had your father in 1911, he would have been well on his own in 1920, about 7 came back for Frank, so that pretty much told me that perhaps he's another brother, since, Charles and Oscar's children were all roughly the same age, so I searched that way, no Frank born in Mass, living in Maine in 1920 or 1930. Anyway, Aola never married, I'd see if I could get her obit. and see what leads that gives you. Hope this helps you somewhat. 3. Hi, Here is a little information from Ancestry. You may already have this as you mentioned court cases, etc. These are from Washington Co., and not Cumberland Co., which would be Portland, Maine.
