I have not yet been able to verify this with records. Sarah (Bolton) Kennedy may have died shortly after the birth of her daughter Marietta Kennedy b 1858. There were three daughters according to census records, Sarah Adeline Kennedy born 1852 in Porlland ME, Helen Frances born 1856 in Portland ME, and my great grandmother Marietta or Mary Etta born 1858 in Portland ME. Thomas Kennedy, a merchant, ventured to Bodie Mono Co CA as early as 1878 according to tax records and his 2nd wife Elizabeth and 2 daughters Sarah Adeline and Marietta were there by 1880 census. He purchased a large tract of land and was ranching in 1880. He died sometime after 1884. The fate of daughter Helen Frances is unknown.

Does anyone have information on the children of Ebenezer Boyd? He was born in Newburyport, MA in 1768. He came from Boston to Portland with his brothers Robert Boyd, Joseph Coffin Boyd, John Parker Boyd and William Boyd. He later left the life of a merchant and became a Baptist minister. I'm looking for the names and DOB of his children. Also, the same for William. I have a lot on the other brothers but can't seem to locate info on children of Ebenezer and William. Thanks for any help. Linda

Gaye - Don't feel stupid, you did have the H in there, at the bottom of the message. I found him under that spelling at genealogy.com in a book, pulled up the image, went a few pages before and after, nothing, that must have been where you had looked. I also looked at ancestry.com. Nothing, that one doesn't even come up, nor does anything for the other spellings you gave, nor does anything remotely close when putting the soundex on. I feel pretty stupid. I guess I was too tired and at the end of a long genealogy hunt when I typed my request for a look up in the 1850 census index in Cumberland County. It should have read James Mc CHLOE (I left out the H.) I'm sorry for the error. I wondered if anyone has access to a 1850 Federal census index for Maine and would be willing to look up James Mc CLOE of Cumberland country to verify where he is in the census. I'm searching on my husband's line for the family of James McLOY and his , wife Margaret (CONNOR). His son, Richard McLoy, was born 9 Sept 1850 in Portland, Cumberland, Maine, at least that is the information the family has. Since this pinpoints a location in a census year, I've been trying to find James McLOY in the 1850 census. (I realized the census date was probably before Richard was born.) So far I haven't had any luck. Tonight I searched for all the James in Cumberland County (some 800!) and went through the index for them one by one trying to find anything that could be a mispelling or mispronunciation. I came across James Mc CHLOE in Poland, Cumberland, Maine and wondered if perhaps this was close enough to be my James. It is the only name remotely close to McLOY. But when I go to the link, I can't see anything like this name on the image. I searched several pages in each direction and can't find remotely like this. I'm wondering if the online index has an error. I want to verify where James in in the index so I can look him up. Thank you so much, Gaye Willis Juneau, Alaska
