Seems like it might be time to close this particular discussion, although it is valid. But I have a slightly different slant, and think perhaps it was done fairly proper. He did not put his 'AD' in the email, only said that we might check out his site. This form of help seems to be done on several lists that I am on, and as long as the AD is not in the email, I appreciate it, as it is a way for me to find local help for an area that I finally realize I need someone in person to go and look at or find a record for me. As my ancestors were in ME/MA/CT, and PA and AL/TN and NC/SC, and KS/MO and I live in northern IN, this does help me. Just my thoughts. Susan E.
Brian, I am truly sorry if I offended you or anyone else. I just got my website up and I thought people might be interested in the bibiliography and index lookups and some of the other pages. I certainly respect everyone who has volunteered services and I thought I could contribute in some way. In retrospect, I should have introduced my site better in my initial email so that people who did not want to look at it could avoid it. Again my apologies. Steve Sanborn The plain and simple truth is Mr Sanborn you are simply soliciting business and yes I am grossly offended. My suggestion for this take out a paid ad someplace. These list are meant for at least I am under the impression for the free exchange of info between people helping others using this for profit simply galls me.During the course of a year I perform many look ups for people and as others have helped me in my research its nice to return those favors. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JEB.2ACE/535 Message Board Post: David Davis was supposedly born August 1800 at Gray, ME. He married Mary Jordan at Gray Oct 1826. There were three Davis families in Gray in 1800 of which it seems that two could be the family of David, a David Davis who had 1 son under 10 and a William Davis who also had 1 son under 10. Does anyone know anything about either of these families. Trying to locate parents for my David.
From Evening Express, Portland, Maine page 4, col.1 It Resulted Fatally A young man named Joseph Broadhurst, employed at the iron works of C.M. & H.T. Plummer, on Union street, was accidentally struck on the breast, yesterday afternoon, by a sheet of iron upon which he was at work. Rich's ambulance was called and the man taken to the Maine General Hospital, where Drs. Pendleton and Weeks attended him. An examination showed that he was more seriously injured than at first supposed and that important organs had been crushed. He rapidly sank and at about 5'oclock died. Coroner Gould will hold an inquest today. Mr. Broadhurst recently came here from Nova Scotia and lived on Greenleaf street. He was unmarried. I have photocopied the article, if you would like me to send it to you. The only mention I have of this is in a poem by Emily Rice, published in the Halifax newspaper, that says "... he was killed by falling iron, cut off without a word..." So the question, does anyone have access to news papers in Portland that might have an account of whatever occurred, which we assume from that hint was a construction accident of some sort? It would have appeared in the next edition after February 13, but I don't know if there was a daily paper at that time, or whether it was less frequent. If anyone knows, what is the name of a paper from that time? Does that paper have an archive? > > > ==== MECUMBER Mailing List ==== > Used MECUMBERLAND mailing list for QUERIES? > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > >

She is my niece and I have never met her. She would be about 32 years old now. Also, Amy could have went by her mothers last name, Morton.. Amy Sue Hill born July 5, 1971 in Portland, Maine to Kathleen A. Morton and my brother, James O. Hill. James met and married Kathleen while he was serving in the Navy in Portland. Amy was Baptized in the Catheral of the Immaculate Conception {Roman Catholic Church} at 307 Congress Street, Portland,Maine By; Rev. H.I. Lary and Hillery J. Cameron. Would there be any church records of this at that church? Does Amy Hill still attend this church? Is she married? This Baptism record of Amy Hill was found in a picture frame at a yard sale. Any information, any help anyone can help me with will be appreciated. I would love to locate Amy. If anyone should locate her, please give her my email adddress.
