Surnames: DAVIS, JOHNSON Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JEB.2ACE/238 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on Charles Davis, born 1775/6 in Chatham (Portland), Middlesex County, CT, died 1819, and Rebecca Johnson, possibly the daughter of Seth Johnson and Rebecca Norton. I wonder if, although he was born in CT, Charles Davis might have lived in ME. I am also trying to establish which of several Rebecca Johnsons may have been his wife. 1. [MECUMBER] Looking for
    2. Nancy Coffin Libby
    3. I have found all of this family except for t wo sisters - Nancy and Elizabeth Gilmore from Ireland, probably Antrim. Elizabeth married in Freeport in 1849 and Nancy was in the Philadelphia Census in 1850, 1860 and listed married in 1879, 1880, etc. I cannot find a record of their passage either to Maine or Boston......and I don't think New York is it. I wonder now if they came over to work in the mills in Brunswick and is there anyway of getting lists of those people employed in the mills? The rest of the family came in the 1860's and settled in that area. Their brother arrived in 1850. Thank you. Nancy C. Libby Nancy C. Libby nancycl@gwi.net

    3. Norma, I looked up Greely Laundry in the 1850, 1852 and 1863 in the Portland City Directories and didn't find anything. There was a Edwin C. Greeley, merchant, Brown's Wharf at 165 Congress in the 1852 Directory. I didn't look in the later directories. Do you think it could have been later than 1963?
