From The Register Herald, Dec 24, 2002: WINTERVILLE, N.C. - Virginia Mae (Buckland) Meador, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, died at the home of her daughter in Winterville, N.C. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002. Her death came at age 61, following an extended illness. Born Feb. 13, 1941 in Mount View, she lived most of her life in Summers County. Most recently, she made her home in Richmond, Va. where she retired from Bell Atlantic/Verizon in July 2002 after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Talcott. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Franklin Delano Meador, who passed away in 1993; her parents Frank Pat (1964) and Ethel Mae (1972) Buckland of Talcott; brothers, Jackie Joe Buckland (1979) of Bluewell, Frank Pat Buckland Jr. (1995) of Santa Maria, Calif.; and two infant siblings. Survivors include five children, Franklin Delano Meador Jr. of Princeton, Deborah Lynne (Meador) Vallandingham and husband, William Patrick Jr. of Greenville, N.C., Susan Yvonne Meador of Ayden, N.C., Virginia Diane (Meador) Lambert and husband, Fred Jr. of Winterville, N.C. and Cheryl Lynette (Meador) Burks of Greenville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Alicia Nicole Meador of Athens, Virginia Lucille Burks of Statesville, N.C., Susan Abigail Vallandingham and William Patrick Vallandingham III of Greenville, N.C.; brothers and sisters, Jerol Hershel Buckland and wife, Charlene of Fort Wayne, Ind., Darrell Dean Buckland of Morganton, N.C., Linda Murleen (Buckland) Greenlief and husband, Billie of Palm City, Fla., Evelyn Joyce (Buckland) Rhodes and husband, Randy of Talcott and Gary Wayne Buckland and wife, Donna of Brown Mills, N.J.
