Hello Cousin, There are documents that are at the Mercer Co. Courthouse, Princeton WV. I saw a few, but did not get them unfortunately. However, I have a book series... "A New River Heritage" by William Sanders Volumes 1-4 "I only have 2 & 3" In my book, It says that Jacob was in Giles Co. VA which later became Mercer Co. WV. He was there around 1800. In Will Book 1, pg 20 and inventory of personal property of Jacob Meadows deceased, October 25, 1845 It is thought that this Jacob was a Jacob JR. (This could be questionable) It says that Mercer Co. WV was established 1837. June 12, 1837 Gordon Cloyd, deceased, .....attorney in fact, Andrew Johnston and Jacob Meadows, Senr." "this appears to be a deed of some sort" Deed appears to be... June 12, 1837 Jordan Meadows, Mercer Co., .........land lying close to Jacob Meadows land It appears that there is Jacob Senr and Jacob junr. June 27, 1836 Jacob Meadows was appointed surveyor for a road from the branch east of Lewis Hatcher's (present day Dunns area) to the top of Flat Top Mountain and instructed to keep the road in repair. June 12, 1837, Mercer Co. Deed Book , page 8, Watson, etc; patent owners in Co. of Montgomery, to Jacob Meadows of the county of Mercer, conveyed "two tracks on Christian Ridge and waters of Adair's Run - adjoining his son, Jacob's land and the Conrad Peters land." Deed book 1 pg 16 June 12, 1807 A deed from Watson of New York City, etc, out of an eighty thousand acre grant to Jacob Meadows JR, two parcels totaling 319 acres on the "headwaters of the Paine's Fork, waters of Five Mile Fork of East River and source of the Headwaters of Adair's Run waters of New River, bordering on Conrad Peters." Deed Book 1 pg. 8 June 12, 1837 A deed from Watson, Kent, etc, by Andrew Johnston, their attorney-in-fact, granted from the same eighty thousand acre patent land to Jacob Meadows, SR, 211 acres on Christian Ridge and water of Adair's Run.....bordering on "his son, Jacob's land and Conrad Peters land." Deed Book 1, pg 5 June 12, 1837 A deed from Watso, Kent, Cloyd and others by Andrew Johnston, their attorney-in-fact, to Jordon Meadows, out of the same eighty thousand acre tract fro $190.00, 108 acres, property on "the dividing ridge between headwaters of Paine's and Hale's Fork of the Five Mile Fork of East River, called the Briar Knob." Deed Book 1, pg 10 June 12, 1837 A deed from Watson, Kent, Cloyd and others, to Adam Meadows, two tracts or parcels of 114 acres on " Big Spring, and Cove Branches, waters of East River, adjoining a survey made for Benjamin Stuart of 468 acres, which was a part of the Hopkins Land Grant."
