    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: pgmeador Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.meador/943.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thank you, this is very helpful. I have the Obit from that event posted thier records. Not a good record, but it is what it is. My mom discovered this event back in the 70's when she was doing our family line. Billy and Mattie are my great grandparents and it seems this event was not well known on my side of the family. My grandfather was 3 at the time of the event, and believed to be in the room when it happened. Anyway, you certainly cannot take the genealogy lines people have in their trees as gospel. Many people have William J dying in OK in 1900, which does not add up. I believe there is also a William J Meador that did die in OK in 1900, but according to your information that would mean it was a different William J than the one born to R M Meador. All that to say, I am certainly interested in what you have to help me untangle this knot. My mom came across something that made her believe that Billy died in late January, early February 1906 while in custody and was buried by the county in an unmarked grave. I have contacted Dallas County to see if they had any records of the event. The clerk told me those records would have been destroyed years ago, IF there was any record at all. I am about to take a break from ancestry.com and suspend my membership for a bit. I greatly appreciate your replay and any helpful information you have Paul Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Two of his children went to live with his sister in Oklahoma after that. Maybe that's where the confusion is. Contact me for more information. 1. Re: [MEADOR] Job Meadows, d. c. 1774, NC

    3. Hi Robin, Yes there certainly are many Jobs & Joels... But as far as I am aware, none pre-date the one(s) that I mentioned. Job, son of John, was under-age when mentioned in his father's 1721 Essex will, so he was born after 1700 and before 1721. Joel was of legal age when he received a 344 acre grant in Amelia Co., VA in 1736, so he was born before 1725. Based purely on these deduced dates, I was only asking if anyone had ever considered that they could be the same man... I believe the Jonas & Frances of Cumberland that you mentioned were born much later, so any connection isn't relative to my question. I have extensive research on Joel and other Meadors of Amelia, but nothing on the Job mentioned in old John's will, who is the subject of this thread. Like the original poster, I would love to see any research that anyone has done on this man... Thanks, David On Fri, Dec 16, 2011 at 09:13, Robin Connors <[email protected]> wrote: > David, > > > There are many Job and Joel. The most important is look at dates. 3. David, There are many Job and Joel.  The most important is look at dates.  Victor is a good starting reference but most of his work is outdated with other documents found since his work. Job and Joel are considered  to connect to Jonas and Frances Meador of Cumberland County, VA.  The best thing to do is collect all men info and try to connect them. There are wills of Jonas and Frances that list the names, pay close attention to dates.  Cuz Robin ________________________________ From: David Martin <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, December 7, 2011 4:49 PM Subject: Re: [MEADOR] Job Meadows, d. c. 1774, NC Paul, I have two Meador lines in my ancestry, one of which has been proven back to old John on the Rappahannock, and one that can only be proven back to Benjamin, whose will was proven on 28 December 1798 in Amelia, VA.  Most researchers accept that he must have been a son of Joel Meador of Amelia by his first wife (name unknown)...  But the big question is: who was Joel?
