Meador of Jack Co., TX, I have new information which I have posted in a narrative on my new Rootsweb Freepages website. I'm sharing information which I believe points to his father as John Vines Meador (surprising I know). I've been researching this man for many years, but I really got serious about it in the last 3-4 years. This narrative is a result of that work. Author: oboest Surnames: Meador Calbreath Howser Classification: cemetery Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.meador/950/mb.ashx Message Board Post: It looks like there were a couple of Pleasant Meador's? My uncle helped find the cemetery of Pleasant Meador ( 1805-1889 ) and his wife Ann Calbreath Meador ( 1810-1894 ) This small cemetery appeared to be well taken care of; I was shocked to see what appeared to be new(ish) headstones. This cemetery is in North/Central TN ( Smith Co. ) not far from the Kentucky line. Pleasant and Ann were my 3xgreatgrandparents. This was a very nice day as we found graves of 5 generations. "Down the street" we found the graves of their daughter Mary and her husband Thomas Jefferson Howser. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: lhayes1939 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.meador/501.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I, too, would like to know more about Lou Ellen and her mother, Lutitia Meador (Burgess). She married Thomas Meador, a distant cousin, in 1853. The 1860 census has her single with three young boys, George, William and James. She was farming, apparently near her father in same census. Later, she married Amstead Burgess and Lou Ellen appears with others, including William. Lutitia died the same time as Burgess, 1880. http://keziahburgess.com/ has some information, including what her tombstone said. I'd like to have that photo and anything you might have. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: snommisbor Surnames: Meador, Parker, Birdsell Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.meador/897.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, John Sterling Meador was my great grandfather. His grandmother was Jane Beghtol Meador and his father was John W. Meador. Charles Meador was his father. Charles married Adeline Parker and when she passed he married Julia Parker (Adeline's sister). Julia was given guardianship of the children of his previous marriage and raised the children. Charles and Julia never had children of their own. The guardianship paper from 1885? or so is in the digital archives at the Asotin County Museum. John Sterling Meador (my great grandfather) married Iva Mae Birdsell and settled in Lewiston Idaho. Julia Parker lived all her days with him and he honored her as his own mother. I also recall stories of Lincoln trying to trade Jennie to the Natives and it cost fifty ponies to get out of the pickle. There is a newspaper article around somewhere that I may have a digital copy of. There are also come court documents concerning Lincoln in the Asotin County Museum digital Archives.! I have; a page from the Meador Family Bible listing the geneology prior to setting in Asotin, many pictures, some newspaper articles. I am absolutely willing to share as it sounds like everyone on this thread knows their stuff. I hope this helps. My pickle is surrounding my grandmother, Bonnie DeEtta Meador. (Named after DeEtta Meador where I get the Lincoln and Jennie stories) There are many family rumors surrounding her birth and I'd love to get to the bottom of it. According to a journal she wrote, she was born in Tammany Idaho March 5, 1926. It is rumored that she was not a late in life child of John and Iva, but that she was a grandaughter being raised as such. Verbally, she always claimed that she was born in a hospital and got very upset when asked about it. Anyone that could verify the story has since passed, so I'm looking for answers and possibly Indian heritage. Sincerely, Jackee Simmons Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
