I have no descendants listed for him and Lucy Ann BOOTHE; but you can find some data on Lucy's ancestors on the FamilySearch site of LDS. I know that this site is looked down on but I have found it to be no more erroneous than any other site. You must be careful will all data. Gordon Reid Hale
I don't think Kathryn Reynolds is still living....I could be wrong---but I know someone told me that she had passed away and all her papers were given to Clayton Library in Houston. They are all on microfilm from Salt Lake City...you can get them from local FHCs. They are very useful, as her letters from Victor P. Meador, Mr. Nunnelly, etc., are all included---sadly, her replies are not included; that would be a real gold mine!! She must have been the leading collector and researcher of the Meador family--all branches, even though she was of the Jason Meador/Sarah Moberley line. That's interesting. She did a huge amount of work and it is a fine reference. Mom is mentioned in one of the last volumes. Mom's Grandmother was Lucy Boothe ( 4 Feb 1845, 2 28 Dec 1911) who was the wife of George Henry Meador (b 1 Sep 1838, d 8 Feb 1904). Does anyone have data on the Boothe line. In my Pearce work going back to R.I. in the 1600s, I have seen some Boothe names. Hi All, While I was in the DAR Library in Washington D.C. a few weeks ago, I saw a more than 16 volume set of books titled The Meador Family by Katherine Reynolds. The books focus on the Texas Meadors. Her address is 1605 Banks, Houston Texas 77006. If you are in the D.C. area, it would be well worth your time to spend some time at the DAR library. I am looking for information on Henry J. Meador b. May 8, 1840 in Sumner County, Tennessee. Death date unknown Believe he probably died in Wayne County, Missouri. Census records list his wife as Margaret and then Charity. His parents were Joseph Meador and Louisa Rhodes. Any information on this man would be appreciated. As I seem to not be able to find any more information on him. Thanks Teresa

George Henry Meador's wife was Lucy Booth. I have data on her line going back 4 generations that I got from a Henbest Uncle that has died with no sources. Does anyone have that data with sources? WWP Linda & Warren Pearce Colorado Springs CO 80919-4821
Warren & Linda Pearce, thanks for Coat of Arm, I had last note to bounce. Virginia
I have a nice graphic of our Coat of Arms. Drop me a note if you want a copy of it. WWP Linda & Warren Pearce Colorado Springs CO 80919-4821
This is my first note to the group. My Mother's (Lucille Henbest) Grandmother was JOANNA MEADOR. She was born on 3 December 1867 in Barry County Missouri and died on 6 April 1949 in Fayetteville Arkansas. Joanna's husband was Alfred HENBEST. I have extensive data on the Meadors from The Meador Family by Daniel Burton Meador and from Meadors in Colonial America by Victor and Bernal Meador, the Henbest family, as well as my Pearce family in my Family Tree Maker file which I would be glad to share. Are you aware of anyone that has generated a Family Tree Maker file for the Meador line. If so, I would like to trade data with them. Also, my copy Meadors in Colonial America is the November 1983 edition and it has been reprinted. If you are aware of a newer copy for sale I am interested. Looking for these Meadors who are siblings of my Harriet Powell Meador: 1. Maria Frances, 1831-1852; 2. Sarah, b. 1833; 3. William Henry. b.1835; 4. Thomas W. b. 1837; 5. Mary Josephine, b. 1841. They were all children of Joel Meador (1801-1844) and Agnes McGeorge (1820- abt 1850-55). The family started in VA and ended up in MO, probably in abt 1840. Sheridan Brandon Drowatzky

Jessie, I am sure that someone else will tell you this; the spelling of the surname can be Meador, Meadors, Meadow, Meadows, Mead, Meads, Meade, Meades. I think it just depended on how those folks were feeling at the time they did the writing. Gordon Reid Hale Grand Prairie, Texas
Hello. I am researching the Civil War regiment 4th Tennessee Cavalry (Union), and in Co C of that regiment there was a Captain DANIEL MEADOR. He was sworn in as Captain of the Company on Jan 1, 1863 at Louisville, KY. Later that year he died, on Aug 8, 1863, drowned in the Cumberland River near Nashville. I am trying to locate him in the 1850 and 1860 censuses for my regimental database. Since he was an officer, there is no descriptive card on the muster roll microfilm listing his place of birth. However, one of the death certificates states Louisville, KY, but that may be simply listing his place of enlistment. Any assistance in locating him would be appreciated. Many of the soldiers of Co C came from Campbell Co., TN, and I did find a possible match in that county in both 1850 and 1860, but the surname is "Meadow". Thanks Jessie Blalock http://users.rootsweb.com/~tn4cav/index.html
The following website located alot of info about individuals from TN. Good Luck! Search: www.state.tn.us. Put your surname in the "For:" box. Robbie
Thanks, Patrick! You are now the 3rd person who has said that Obediah was the son of Josiah and not the son of Joshua Joel. Do you remember how you discovered this fact? I am a stickler for documentation. Here's some info on the children of Obediah and Prudence: Elizabeth, b. 1794, d. Sep 1854 in Bedford County. Married William Hix. Polly, m. Clement Dickerson (Dickinson?) on 9 Nov 1809 in Bedford Co., VA Sarah, m. John Spradlin, Jr. on 23 Mar 1827 in Bedford Co., VA John, married Martha McLain James, b. abt 1809 in Bedford Co., VA, d. 15 Mar 1879 in Bedford Co., VA. Married Sarah McLain on 21 Dec 1829 in Bedford Co., VA. Lucy, b. abt 1810, d. aft 1860. Married Warner Basham on 25 Mar 1830 in Bedford Co., VA. Obediah, b. 1814 in Bedford Co., VA, d. 22 Jul 1889 in Bedford Co., VA. Married Elizabeth Minter on 25 Nov 1831 in Bedford Co., VA. Second married Sarah Frances Meador Ellis on 18 Feb 1869 in Bedford Co., VA George, married Sarah Minter on 24 Dec 1834 in Bedford Co., VA Melinda, married George Clark on 30 Jul 1833 in Bedford Co., VA. I have information on some of Obediah and Prudence's grandchildren, also, if you'd like that. I am descended from Obediah, Jr. and Elizabeth Minter. Settlement of the estate of Obediah Meador, dec'd, signed on 30 Oct 1830 mentions Prudence Meador, the widow, and these legatees: James Meador, Obediah Meador, John Meador, Lucy Meador, Polly Dickinson, William Hix, John Spradlin, and the guardian for the two young legatees George Meador and Malinda Meador. (Will Book 6, p. 358, Bedford County, VA Courthouse.) Account of the estate of Prudence Meador, dec'd, presented to the court on 28 Jun 1841, states the following legatees: Oba Meador, John Spradlin, William Hix, Polly Dickinson, Warner Basham, John Meador, James Meador, George Clark, and George Meador of Kentucky. (Will Book 10, p. 373-374, Bedford County, VA Courthouse) kay
Hello Kay, Unfortunately, I don't have any more information than what you have, but you may want to have a look at this website: http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/m/e/a/Victor-L-Meadows/index.html This Victor (not Victor Paul) sites documents. He keeps his website up-to-date, to you can correspond with him. Good Luck! sm >>> "stelladog" <[email protected]> 09/21/00 05:17PM >>> Steve, I apologize for taking so long to respond. I don't have any information to offer you, so didn't write at first. Now I am getting so frustrated that I hope you might have some information to share with me! I am descended from Obediah Meador who married Prudence Wells in 1786 in Prince Edward County, VA. Victor Paul Meador states in his book that this Obediah was the son of Mary Ann Meador who was the daughter of Joshua Joel Meador of Amelia County, VA. His documentation of that fact is unsatisfactory to me. Do you have any documents to suggest that Joel had a daughter named Mary Ann? And that Mary Ann had a son named Obediah who married a Prudence Wells? I have been stuck at this point for a long time!
