    3. Hello Cousins, In document 1756 Tax List Orange Co. VA, Francis Meadors was listed. In the deeds of 1790 and 1792, Rockingham County VA., The 1790 Deed has Francis Medows wife Keziah. The 1792 Deed has Francis Meadows wife Kesiah/Keziah Note: both spellings of wife's name in document Both documents signed by both Francis and Keziah with an angled x or cross. It is angled between both the x or cross. In document Deed 1791 Orange County VA, There is a deed for Francis Meadows and wife Mary. Their marks are capital M. NOTE: Mary and Keziah ARE NOT the same women. One marks name with angled x or cross the other marks with captial M. In document Deed 1780, Orange Co. VA, Deed to Reuben Roach from Francis Meadows of Orange Co. No signature of Francis. In the document of 1833 of Monroe Co. VA (now WV), The mark of Francis Meadows SR is a full x. this deed mentions that there is a sale by sheriff of Monroe Co. August 1815 for delinquent taxes --124 acres of 1000 acres survey bearing part of tract April 24, 1786, granted by Francis Bright by letter July 9th, 1786. This is being a bill of sale from Francis SR to Francis JR. Sept. 6, 1833 NOTE: This is Francis II and Francis III. NOTE: There is a survey of land for Francis and Frank In document 1770 Augusta Co. VA, Surveyed land for Francis Meadows 80 acres. Francis didn't sign but this was by In(s) Lewis and Thomas Lewis In Heads of Families, Orange Co. VA Year 1785 Francis Meadows--6 white souls 2 other buildings Year 1790 Francis Meadows--4 white souls Note: believe this man is Francis II wife Frances Bush (notice, there is no living quarters mentioned, Francis Meadows lived else where, residing in Rockingham Co. or Augusta Co. ?, deeds of August 1780, deeds of Rockingham 1790) I was thinking how interesting I never saw the marks for the Mary and the Keziah. 1. Francis Meadows...
    2. Robin Connors
    3. Hi Cousins, There were two Francis men in the War. One went by Frank--which is also found in Monroe Co. WV. Transaction between Frank and Francis found there, early 1800's. Frances Bush Meadows filed for pension in early 1800's. Frank and Francis are believed to be Frank II m. Frances Bush and Francis III m. Nancy Woodrum. The Frances living with family in old age, believed to be Frances Bush Meadows, mother to Frank II which is Rev. War vet., but everyone says it was father. One went by name Francis, Rev. War vet. War Record stubbs place the two men in same company, same time. There is a tax record with Francis on it in Orange Co. VA 1756. Have a beautiful day, Cousin Robin __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

    2. Robin Connors
    3. Hi Cousins, Just thinking again, which can be scary at times, thinking if the oldest ancestors had marked graves. Does anyone know of or have pictures of old grave stones of our earliest men? There is a grave site down in Essex Co VA. I guess I will have to check on this one too when I go back there. 1. Ransom Meadows info....
    2. Robin Connors
    3. Hi Cousins, Found this on message board... I have here a Mary M. Townsend married Augustus Rape 19 Aug 1865 in Coosa, also Mary Margaet Townsend married William L. Hardy 28 March 1869 in Coosa. William is buried at Unity Presber. Cem.Weogulfa, AL - died Dec.11 1889. His father was Robert W. Hardy and Mary Meadows, daughter of Ranson Meadows, plantation owner Alexander City AL.They were married in 1848. Robert died after 5 years of marriage leaving 3 young children for Mary to rear. But Robert's brother William Allen Lansing Hardy came to the rescue and married her 1853.They then had 9 children more. Robert W. and William A.L.were 2 of 8 children of Robert Hardy -born in Edgefield District SC on a plantation- I think called Sweet Water(or Whitehall?),near Old Hamburg Rd, 10 miles from Augusta GA on the SC side of the Savannah River.Robert Hardy was one of 8 known children of John Hardy. hefoughtinVa and SC- Military Enlist dte: 3 Apr 1776 Residence: Mechlenburg Co., Virginia Residence: Edgefield District, South Carolina Military Service: 5th South Carolina Regiment of the Revolutionary War Military Service: 30 May 1777 Discharged as a Corporal from May 20, 1776 Will: Edgefield District, South Carolina, Book A, page 164 John Hardy was born in Isle ofWright, Virginia abt. 1740 on a plantation and Ann Williams, born likewise on a plantation ,Hamlin I think, daughter of Richard Williams, planter, and Agnes Allen of the Virginia Allens- a book is written about them. It keeps going on back Hardy wise to John Hardy b.1613 in Bedfordshire, England and his European ancestors. If his g. greatgrandmother Mary Stanley can be proved to be the daughter of Joan of Knockin, then it goes on back to Medieval Kings and Queens and Charlemagne. End message Wanted to pass on any information I can for Ransom Meadows because I know some cousins are looking for him. I do not know if this info is true or false but maybe this can be a reference for look ups. Have a wonderful day, Cousin Robin __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
