    3. I have a copy of Our Meador Families in Colonial America. However, I only have the text not the maps or charts. I was bidding on the one offered on Ebay but it's getting abit too high for me. If anybody on the list owns a full-up copy, would you be willing to copy the maps and charts for me? I would absolutely cover all costs and be deeply in your debt! Shirley aumbre@earthlink.net

Surnames: Meador, Clark Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/IM0.2ACEB/533 Message Board Post: James Clark b. about December 1840 in Franklin co. Virginia married Judith Snead (daughter of John T. and Sarah Snead) December 22, 1859 in Mercer County, Va/WVa. James Clark was the s/o Henry Clark & Ruth Mize. James Clark disappears after 1860, haven`t been able to locate James in the 1870 census, so I am asuming that he was killed in the Civil War or he died some other way. James left one male child, Elijah C. Clark b. 1862. Some think that James Clark married a second wife Celia E. Meador (daughter of John & Ann Meador) on Sept. 28, 1864 in Mercer County. I think Celia E. Meador married a William Clark b. abt. 1855. Does anyone have information about Celia E. Meador and her Clark marriage? She married again to a Benjamin F. Meador I think. 1. Meadors, Summers, Parkers Smith Co TN
    2. Last night I came across Alvin F. Summers (b. 1824 in TN) living in Ellis Co. TX. on the 1890 Census fragment. Because I have a mind like a steel trap (think Jethro Bodine/Beverly Hillbillies ;)) a mere 12 hours later I thought to look for Alvin on the 1900 Census and there he was...living with my Melvina Meadors in Ellis County, TX and he's her father! I don't know what I am most embarrassed about, A. The fact that it took so long for me to figure this out or B. How excited I was to find it! So, I now know that Melvina E. Summers married Louis Meadors. Her fathers name is Alvin Franklin Summers and he was born in TN and is buried in Midlothian Cem. in Texas. I "know" that there is a connection between The Parker's of Smith Co, TN (Dempsey and Francis) and my Franks and Meadors families of Texas. I have so much information on the Parkers (thanks to cousin, Connie Sims), but there is no mention of the Summers/Meadors families. Do any of these names sound familiar to anyone? I'm really hoping this made sense. Lisa

    1. Thomas M. Meador 1852-1913 Brown County, Texas
    2. Lori Kay
    3. Looking for parents of Thomas M. Meador (my great, great, great grandfather) born 12-15-1852 died 5-6-1913. Thomas is buried in Windham Cemetery which is in Byrds, Brown County, Texas. He was married to Olive Adeline Rhodes aka Illya or Ollie. They had a son, Eddie Thomas Meador b. 1890 d. 1965 who married Mary L Hoover b. 10-20-1893 d. 7-11-1965, both burried in the Windham Cemetery as well. I have a family letter indicating that there were 4 other sons born to Thomas and Olive, William, Henry, Oscar, and Aster, as well as 3 daughters whose names are unknown. I've heard that Thomas' father's name was Joel, so in searching, I've found a possible Joel Meador. This Joel Meador was born in 1810 in Franklin County, Virginia and died in 1880 in the same town. Irena (aka Irene) Arrington was born in 1813 in VA and died 4-11-1859. Joel and Irena were married 7-6-1833 in Franklin City, Accomack, Virginia. I have no record of Joel and Irena's children, but I just have a hunch this might be the right family. There is family info passed down that our ancestors came from VA. There is room for another generation between Thomas M Meador b. 1852 and this Joel and Irena, so they may actually be his grandparents. I've seen listed in some places that there was a Joel and Harriet Meador who had a son named Thomas M. Meador who was born in 1852, however, it is listed that he died in 1885, which unless that is a typo, it could not possibly be him. I have a picture of Thomas' headstone in a family cemetery and it clearly states he died in 1913. Another reason this could not be him is because my Thomas had children born after 1885, most importantly, my great great grandfather Eddie Thomas Meador b. 1890. If any of this sounds familiar, I would love to hear from you. If you know the children of Joel and Irena, I would certainly appreciate the list of them. Any info I can get on any of these families would be great. My line is as follows: Thomas M. Meador & Olive A. Rhodes Eddie Thomas Meador & Mary L. Hoover Olive Irene Meador & Doyle Stanley Byrd, Sr. Loretta Louise Meador & William Lafayette Lee, Sr. Nancy Irene Lee (my mother) Thanks, Lori K

    1. Mass Graves..
    2. In a message dated 9/25/2005 10:53:08 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, anglzluvus@yahoo.com writes: There are about 100,000 Union Soldiers laid to rest. However, there are only about 15,000 of them that have plots with names. The others were thrown in graves from 1-12 men per grave. The plot is numbered then under it is numbered with how many men in one grave. Yes it is sad Robin, but we must remember that those were different times. I would think that will 100,000 dead it would be extremely difficult to bury each one singularly due to the lack of personel to do the work, the bodies had probably putrified to some extent before they could be burried and that can be a health hazard. Remember that more people died in the Civil War from disease than from enemy action. I am sure they feared that bodies laying around would cause more disease. Despite all of this it is sad that no more was thought of these men than to toss them into a mass grave, and then not even record their names. But, it is possible that many could not be properly identified for various reasons. I had a friend who worked in the army graves registration during and after the Korean war. Some of the tales he had would chill you bones. Gordon Hale Grand Prairie, Texas In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is strength, in water there is bacteria.

    3. Hello Cousins, I went to the Fredericksburg Battlefield the other day. This is what I found out. There are Union soldiers buried in the National Cemetery they have right beside this battlefield. Unfortunately this is how it is laid out. There are about 100,000 Union Soldiers laid to rest. However, there are only about 15,000 of them that have plots with names. The others were thrown in graves from 1-12 men per grave. The plot is numbered then under it is numbered with how many men in one grave. I thought it was sad because lineages will be hard to connect unless they were mentioned in Memoirs or Journals. This Battlefield is a great source of the Civil War. They have a book store located with Visitor Center. Wonderful place, full of history. I could stay there several days myself. I wanted you all to know this for your records while researching. There are two smaller grave sites located around town that have Civil War soldiers of the Conferate. I did not visit them as of yet. 1. Francis 1754 and Frances Bush Meadows...
    2. Robin Connors
    3. Hello Cousins, I was thinking again, o no, we are in trouble. We know that Francis that married Frances Bush was born abt. 1754. He didn't get married to Frances Bush until he was 43 years old in year 1797. My belief is that he was married before her and had kids. But, can anyone locate his first wife? Back then, getting married at age 43 was un-heard of. My belief is that he had a son Elijah. Years 1770-1780 according to Census Records. They are on the same Census Record in Monroe County WV listed beside each other which means probably neighbors. Francis would have been ages 16-26 when he had Elijah. My list of hopefuls, 1. Will of Francis (Rev. War) 2. Will of Frances Bush Meadows (wife) 3. Will of first wife of Francis desparately trying to find list of kids. My theory is that Frances Bush was younger than Francis is why she lived much longer than he did. Also my theory is that the reason he had so many kids (Rev. War record) is because of first and second marriages. Any and all info would be appreciated. Thanks cousins, Cousin Robin __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
