Hi Cousins, Sorry about that. Didn't think about putting the state. Both Rufus men are located in WV, Summers County AKA Hinton WV. Athens is on the way to Hinton from RT. 20 heading from I-77. Hope this helps, Cousin Robin --------------------------------- Yahoo! FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click.
What are you asking for it? Thanks, Nancy in IL (The Meador Book)
Hello Cousins, In my book... Josish Meador III's son or grandson, R.G. (Rufus) MEADOR, was a leading land developer in Athens, Princeton, and Flordia, prior to the Great Depression. He develped the Mercer Healing Springs and Hotel. He built a large brick general store in Athens as well as the best brick home, which today, is the restored home of Athens mayor, Robert Richardson, JR. It seems Rufus was an Athens Merchant. NOTE: for those of you that do not know, Athens is a small town located on RT. 20 heading towards Pipestem State Park from Interstate 77. Hope this helps, Cousin Robin --------------------------------- Yahoo! FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click.
Hi Cousins, In my book.... R. G. MEADOR is listed as Rufus NOT to be confused with Rufus "MEADOWS" Hope this helps, Cousin Robin --------------------------------- Yahoo! FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click.
In my book.... There seems to be 2 Rufus Meadows in the area. at the pont of Cave Ridge on Butler's farm, showing New River in background. (have photo-need to scan) In the same New River West side road cemetery... Jane, wife of Rufus Meador 1856-1921 RUFUS Meador 1855-1909 NOTE: one grave of Rufus is spelled with Meador the other grave of Rufus is spelled Meadows It is unique to have the same name for 2 men born about the same time frame. This probably added to the confusion of these 2 men, need to collect documents, Cousin Robin --------------------------------- Yahoo! FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click.
In my book... Sarah J. wife of Rufus Meadows 1851-1909 RUFUS Meadows 1840-1917 Salem Primitive Baptist Church Organized March 4, 1860 Churchyard Cemetery Mt. View Road This cemetery is located on Mount View Road along county border. A few of the oldest graves in this large, well-kept roadside churchyard cemetery Three ministers (elders are buried in the churchyard -- Foley, Pack, Wood Hope this helps, Robin --------------------------------- Yahoo! Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IM0.2ACEB/536 Message Board Post: I found by chance a book on the Meador/Meadows. The Meadors and Meadows compiled by Edward Kirby Meador. It has a copy right in 1941. If anyone would like information in it.. OR has pictures to trade for it.. I'd be willing to trade. It has someones name in it but, I cannot read all of it but it has Anna Meador McG(something) and dated in I think 1955. The contents are: 1. The name and family of Meadow(s)-- England 2. The Virginia Meadors 3. New England Meadows 4. Nantucket Branch 5. Revolutionary War Records 6. West Virginia Meadors 7.Prominent Names 8. Coat of Arms 9. Jeremiah Meador,1746 10. Will of Jeremiah Meador 11. List of movable property of Jeremiah 12. William Meador 13. Jeremiah Meador, 1788 14. Edward Andrew Meador 15. Jeremiah Wellington Meador 16. Oliver Perry Meador 17. John Early Meador 18. James Boaz, 1749 19. Russell Boaz 20. Gov't accounting office 21. Veteran's administration 22. Campbell county land order book 23. Thomas Kirby 24. Elijah Carner 25. Miscellaneous Meador-Meadow marriage records 26. Why you have a family name 27. Bobliography It is only 57 pages long. I was hoping it would provide pictures or links of my Meador line but, it doesn't and I'd hate for it to sit in my house if someone else can make use of it.
Hello Cousins, I was looking over the tax list for Orange County VA and noticed this... The name Francis Meadows was under the William Bell List Admin. The name Mary Bell was under the James Madison List Admin. The name William Bell was William Bell List Admin. If Francis Meadows lived on the property of Mary Bell, why was he on the list of William Bell instead of the James Madison List where Mary Bell is found? It is unheard of to have more than 1 List Admin working the same area. Also, William Bell hubby of Mary Bell is passed, so the List Admin. William Bell must be the son of William Bell and Francis Mary Meadows Bell Alcock. Comments welcome, Robin __________________________________ Yahoo!
