    2. Dear JORDAN List, Re: VA/1600s/1700s/Jonas JORDAN and parents, William JORDAN & Rach(a)el MEADOR, (aka MEADOW(S,)) and any other descendants. Re: Rach(a)el JORDAN, born: abt./aft. 1745 poss. in VA, who married John JENNINGS, (RS,) born: abt. 1745 in Richmond Co., VA Hello! MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY CHANNUKAH, HAPPY KWANZA, and every other HAPPY HOLIDAY wish! I'm hoping that there are some of you that are much more familiar with the family of the William JORDAN, born: 1686 in Essex County, Virginia, and his wife, Rach(a)el MEADOR, (aka MEADOW(S,) born: 1686 in Essex County, VA or Old Rappahannock County, VA, died in Amelia County, VA, who were the parents of Jonas JORDAN, born: 1725 in VA, died: June 29, 1795 in VA and who lived in Caroline County, Amelia County, and Bedford County in Virginia and who was a Patriot in the Revolutionary War. Information that I have seen suggests that some of the other children of Rach(a)el MEADOR/MEADOW(S) may have been named Isaac JORDAN, Jeremiah JORDAN, Abraham JORDAN, and William JORDAN in addition to the known Jonas JORDAN. Does anyone know anything about any marriages and children for Jonas JORDAN or any other children of Rach(a)el MEADOR and William JORDAN? My paternal 4th great grandmother was Rach(a)el JORDAN, born: abt./aft. 1745 probably in Virginia, who married John (2) JENNINGS, Sr., (RS,) born: abt. 1745 prob. in Richmond County, Virginia where his family had been since the 1600s when his 2nd great grandfathers, John PAYNE and John (1) JENNINGS, Sr. immigrated into Old Rappahannock County, Virginia in the 1630s. John PAYNE later lived in Westmoreland County, VA. It is believed that his wife was Margaret ROBINSON, (d/o Richard ROBINSON, (early 1600s immigrant into the Tidewater area of VA,) and that John PAYNE and Margaret ROBINSON were the parents of Margaret PAYNE who married 1st husband, John (1) JENNINGS, Sr., before her marriage to her 2nd husband, Christopher EDRINGTON, Sr.. From John JENNINGS, Sr. and Margaret PAYNE, I descend through their son, William JENNINGS, Sr. and his wife believed to have been Mary WILLOUGHBY, (still searching for her parents,) who were the parents of William JENNINGS, Jr., born: abt. 1695 in Richmond County, VA, (formerly Old Rappahannock Co. area,) who married Ann KELLY, born: abt. 1695 in Richmond Co., VA, who was the daughter of (Captain) John KELLY, (s/o of Matthew KELLY and Penelope "Nelly" NORTON,) and (Captain) John KELLY's wife, Amy DONIPHAN, who was the daughter of (Captain) Alexander DONIPHAN, Sr. and his 1st wife, Amiee/Amy/Amee PARTRIDGE. There are so many related and associated families of the DONIPHANs and others above including the HAWKINS, CATLETT, and others that are, also, associated with my PAYNE and JENNINGS families and the MEADOR and JORDAN families that I think there may be a connection for my Rach(a)el JORDAN who married John (2) JENNINGS, Sr., (RS.) From the aforementioned Ann KELLY and William JENNINGS, Jr., my descent continues through their son, Edward Salley JENNINGS, Sr., born: 1720 in Richmond Co., VA, and his wife, Sarah MOORE?, (my paternal 5th great grandparents,) through their son, the aforementioned John (2) JENNINGS, Sr., (RS,) who married Rachael JORDAN. Edward Salley JENNINGS, Sr. and his 4 siblings, William JENNINGS, III, John JENNINGS, Calathan JENNINGS, and Martha JENNINGS were all orphaned in the 1730s with Edward being the oldest at about 15 years at the time. William JENNINGS, III and John JENNINGS were taken under the guardianship of their mother's brother, Matthew DONIPHAN, and their sister, Martha JENNINGS, was taken under the guardianship of their mother's brother, Alexander Doniphan KELLY, and Calathan JENNINGS and Edward Salley JENNINGS, Sr. were taken under the guardianship of the father's brother, Augustus JENNINGS, Sr.. It was Ann, Alexander, and Matthew KELLY's uncle, Alexander DONIPHAN, Jr., who married into the HAWKINS, CATLETT, SALLEE, TALIAFERRO, SHORT family. I am very much looking forward to hearing from anyone who might have any information on the children and grandchildren of Rach(a)el MEADOR and William JORDAN as well as anything more specific on the parents of my Rach(a)el JORDAN who married John (2) JENNINGS, (RS.) In advance, I thank you for any information. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick-Barnet

It would appear, that there are more than one Jesse and we know there are more than one Joel. Jonas wife Frances Hudgens had sons Joel and Jesse. However, it would seem by the lineage above that Joel had a son Jesse. Any documentation on these would be appreciated so we can sort this out. 3. Been going through the passenger lists again. This is how I broke it down. Any comments or thoughts, or corrections welcome. Okay, this is where I think you are getting confused like me. Remember, the dates are not going to work when there are more than Two sets of Thomas's and John's. Ambrose for now is a given unless proven different. Remember my documents to you, I sent recently that there were more than one Thomas and John that came from England. So we have to figure out this. Ambrose only one on boat 1636 Thomas Meades 1636 John Meader 1638 Note came to VA 2 years later Thomas Meades 1638 “ Nich Meader 1638 “ John Mader 1653 Note to VA 17 years later than Ambrose MEN FROM PASSENGER LISTS Of Virginia Year Arrived Ambrose Mader ………… 1636 Thomas Meades ………… 1636 John Meader ……………. 1638 Thomas Meades ………… 1638 Nich Meader ……………. 1638 John Mader …………….. 1653 Thomasen Madero …… 1653 Thomas Meadows ……… 1751 (note: came to America, VA?) WOMEN Anne Meadowes ……….. 1684 Eleanor Meadows ……… 1771 (note: came to America, VA?) My point to this is that Ambrose and Thomas came on in same year 1636 Jno and Thos and Nich came on ship same yr 1638 John Mader came 17 years later 1653 Don’t know if this has a barring on family ties. But fact is the Thomas and John and Nich men, we don’t know who their parents are. Parents are back in England or wherever. We know for a fact that Ambrose had son Thomas by a document we have. Unless we can find a Will of Ambrose or wife, we can’t know exactly how many kids there were or if it was just the one mentioned in deed. Still trying to collect that information. 3. The online collection at BYU has a book titled: Genealogies of the Clark, Parks, Brockman and Dean, Davis and Goss families : in five parts which contains genealogy references to a number of Meadors and can be downloaded in entirety or in the parts one might be interested. One can also search the entire document for Meadors without going thru the document page by page. Shirley aumbre@earthlink.net
