Meador through census records until she dies between 1910 - 1920. Benjamin F. Meador is listed as a widow in the 1920 Census living w/son Albert. She is in the 1870 Census listed as Cela Clark living w/her father so she had to have married a Clark whether is was James or William. Both children William C. Clark and Cela A. Clark are there also. The last census where Celia is listed, the 1910 has her as having 2 of 4 children living (daughter Celia Ann is dead according to census records, sons Aden and Albert through Benjamin Meador are living w/Celia and Benjamin so I can only surmise that William C. Clark is also dead at this time). Her daughter Celia A. married Alfred Judson McCommack around 1889. She is listed as Celia Commack in the 1900 census and it says she has been married for 11 years. She has 6/6 children living. She apparently died between 1900 - 1910 because Alfred J. McCommack is listed as a widow in the 1910 census. I don't have a marriage record for Celia and would love to have a copy if you can scan it. I will continue searching to see what I might find.

I have seen the Snead surname spelled Sneed and I may have some information on that spelling. Another question that I have is if James Clark married Cecila Meador 28 September 1864, where are they located in the census? Where are the 2 children? Celia Ann Clark b. abt. 1865 and William Clark b. abt. 1867 I think. What happened to Judith Snead Clark? It seems that their only son Elijah C. Clark was raised by John Clark , his uncle (our Line) and his grandparents Henry Clark and Ruth Mize. I am looking for more information on this, just about gave up. I have some information stored on cds and other paper files, because of computer problems and lost information I try to make copies of information that I want to keep. Will answer the other email. Snead, 46 with wife Sarah 37 and several children including a Juda age 17. Did they have a daughter Judith as well as a daughter named Juda or is it the same person? The reason I am asking this question is if Judith Snead married James Clark 22 December 1859 why is she living with her parents on 1 Jun 1860. If this Juda was married why isn't she listed as Juda Clark? Just thinking aloud trying to figure the James or William married to Celia Meador question.

Another possible answer would be James Clark was one of 12 children and William Clark maybe a brother. Watson Clark (Grandfather) states that 4 of his uncles fought in the Civil War. Two died. We just don`t know which two. Watson Clark also stated that there were seven sons in his family and he was the youngest and the seventh son born to John Clark & Nancy E. Stovall. His grandfather and Grandmother also had seven sons. John Clark, father of Watson Clark was the youngest and seventh son born to Henry Clark, Sr. & Ruth Mize. 1. John Clark married Nancy E. Stovall, no one seems to know if John fought. He was 14 years old when the war started. John Clark died in 1913. 2. Henry Clark, Jr. married Virginia Meador d/o John & Ann Meador. Henry fought in the Civil war and his tombstone list the Civil War information. Someone was kind enough to send me a picture of the stone, but they did not give a location of the grave, nor the location of Virginia Meador Clarks` grave. My guess is Virginia Meador Clark and Celia Meador Clark could be sisters. They maybe sister-in laws, too. Does that make sense. 3. Elijah Clark married Eliza Harvey. Elijah died in the 1920s`. fought in the Civil War. 4. James Clark married Judith Snead We thinkt he died in the Civil War, no proof. 5. William Clark married Celia Meador. maybe one of the missing sons of this Clark family. Again no proof. There is a marriage record for James Clark married to both ladies. I think there is something wrong here, but then I could be wrong, also. Very Interesting!!! If you have other thoughts about this family, please email. <DMea986657@aol.com> Thank you, Dorothy & Calvin Meadows

Meador is listed in the 1870 Census Jumping Branch, Mercer Co., WV as CELA CLARK. She is living with her father John Meador and stepmother Matilda so she probably was a widow. She has children William Clark 4, and Cela A. Clark 2. Perhaps you are correct in believing she married William Clark as she named her son William. I don't have any other info. about which Clark she married but I do know that she later married Benjamin Meador as you indicated in your posting.

I've heard this same story----but from my mother and she from her father (whose mother was a Meador). I've never found a connection, but isn't it strange that they all have the same story? My line is not the same Meador line as yours----or at least they're from a different descendant of the immigrant. ----- Original Message ----- From: <janeva@carolina.rr.com> To: <MEADOR-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 14, 2006 2:08 PM Subject: [MEADOR] Re: Indian blood in Meador family > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Meador, Batson > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/IM0.2ACEB/550.2 > > Message Board Post: > > I am certain there is Indian blood in my Meador family, but I have not > been able to document it. Hello Cousins, there are several sets of John Meador/Meadows in those 1600's years, so to say absolutely that John married Mary Aubrey, the question is which John because John that married Elizabeth White, is "NOT" the one. In John's Will, 1721, he does not list wife, which means she is deceased. Elizabeth died before John. Question is when did Mary Aubrey/Awbury die? And again where did it happen? Comments, documents welcome, Cousin Robin
