Hi Nancy: I think I have found them, courtesy of another person. Somerset County Maine 1880 and I am elated. Searched the census and there they were, mother in law as well. Could not find Brighton Me 1870 so will search nearby. Fathers name was Alanson and 1880 he was 40 years old, mother Elizabeth 35. Thank you for the response and now to obtain his birth certificate and the search continues.
