    3. Hello Dana, Thanks again. Hmm...could you check the 1870 index for John Richards? Since I can access (slowly) the ancestry images (I almost always strike out with the AIS index, I don't know what I'm doing wrong), I could check those first. I imagine that John Albert Richards lost his mother at an early age, and that (assuming Albert Melville Richards was his father) his father lost several wives prior to 1880. If only I could find John Albert Richards either in Maine or Pennsylvania in 1870, I would have a hit, finally.... And since I managed to find another long-lost ancestor in Pennsylvania (moving around every ten years..., first Cumberland Co., then Rock Island Co., Illinois, then back to Washington Co., Pennsylvania), I figure if I keep plugging away with Maine, or New Hampshire (or maybe even Massachusetts), I'll find John Richards age ca. 5 someone in 1870.
