Some SKS have shared information that has given more information on my gg grandfather Joel Prince 1825 and his son Benjamin Franklin Prince 1852, both born in Portland. In the 1850 census Joel in 24 with his wife "Hannah E., age 21 years. I then found them in 1860 in Wisconsin with son 'Frank', nine years old. Then Joel enlists in the Union Army in 1861 and is wounded in 1862, but remains in the army until 1865. By 1875 Joel and Frank are in Kansas City, KS, but no Hannah E. In the meantime, Joel has remarried-Eliza_________ and Molly Dunlevey 14, is living with them. Eliza is ten years younger than Hannah E., so they are not the same person. Both men worked for the railroads. In 1908 when Joel dies, they are living in Arnett, Ellis County, Oklahoma. Joel is buried there, but Eliza did not stay in the area. Frank md in 1876 and lived for a time in KS. Sometime after his first wife's death in 1898, he moves to CO, where he dies in 1913/4. A local researcher in OK states that the territory didn't official open up until 1900, so why would Joel move there when he is in his mid-seventies My biggest question is how to find out who Hannah E. was and where did she and Frank go when Joel enlisted in the Union Army in Wisconsin. They could have returned to Maine and in 1850 she and Joel were living in Parkman, Q. county. We had originally thought that she died in childbirth, but she was still alive in 1860. And if she did die in childbirth, was it with a baby in 1861 in WS or ME? Eliza offers only that she was born in Ohio and had lived in VA before marrying Joel. And could Molly Dunlevey be a cousin, sister, her own daughter. Since coming across this a few weeks ago, I have searched the Dunlevey name, but there are not many of that name in the USA and no Elizas or Mollys. Is it possible that we could pick up Hannah E. in the Portland area or the Parkman area under any "E" names in the 1840 census? Benjamin is a family given name for the Princes but where did the Franklin come from? Possibly from 'THE B.F.' But perhaps Hannah's father's name. I judge that she was born about 1829. I would be grateful for any ideas or suggestions. If there was a special census taken in 1845 or 1855, that would help to pin-point their whereabouts. Thank you for taking time to read this information. Susan Eppich
