Hi Nancy; Thank you for that. I think I remember hearing that the Hartland 1860 Census was destroyed in a fire but was hoping it was not true. They were definitely in Hartland up until Amy's death in 1865. The other Amy, in Minot Twp, I believe is just a little girl - oh well, sometimes peanuts, sometimes shells!!! Lol. Thank you again, Sue Nancy Riley wrote: > Sue, > ancestry.com index shows Amy*** MOODY in Androscoggin Co, ME 1860, Minot > twn. > " " " Joshua MOODY in Androscoggin Co, ME > 1860, Auburn twn. > also " in Lincoln > Co, ME 1860 > also " in > Sagadahoc Co, ME 1860 > also " in York > Co, ME 1860 > no Joshua MOODY in Somerset Co for 1860 tho. > Hope this is of some help. > Nancy, Ont > * * * * * * * > ----- Original Message ----- > From: sue barr <suebarr@direct.ca> > To: <ME-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Wednesday, August 15, 2001 12:53 PM > Subject: 1860 Somerset County (Hartland)- Moody > > > Hi > > > > Could sks see if there is a Joshua and Amy Moody (plus 2 daughters or 2 > > daughters and a son) in the 1860 Hartland, Somerset County, Maine > > Census? > > > > I've found them in the 1850, but am really having trouble locating > > anyone with access to the 1860 Census for that area. All censuses taken after 1920 are still confidential and the information they contain is not open to the public. The census from 1790 through 1840 only named the head of the household and the numbers of people in categories 3 males over 16, 2 males under 16, etc. The census from 1850 through 1920 lists each member of the household and usually gives the relationship to the head of the house. It also gives age (later years give birth month and year) and place of birth (usually just the state or foreign country). The 1890 census was almost totally destroyed by fire so there is a 20 year gap between 1880 and 1900. > > ============================== > Visit Ancestry.com for a FREE 14-Day Trial and enjoy access to the #1 > Source for Family History Online. Sue, this info is only from ancestry's census - someone who has access to actual census sheets may be able to find more info such as who was with who, ages, etc. Good Luck, Nancy ----- Original Message ----- From: sue barr <suebarr@direct.ca> To: <ME-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 15, 2001 8:47 PM Subject: Re: 1860 Somerset County (Hartland)- Moody > Hi Nancy; > > Thank you for that.
