    1. Re: [ME-CENSUS] Rogers in Farmington Me.
    2. first it helps a lot to give the county, some of us aren't familiar with the states we do lookups in so have to search for a county first. I picked Farmington county, there were 10 other Thomas Rigers in ME 1850, oh and you didn't name a year to do the lookup in so I picked 1850 since it is the first census to name persons by names. 31/32 Thomas Rogers 63 m pedlar 525 ME Rebecca 61 f ME William 19 m laborer ME Judy & Gus AKA FoxHollow's Gentleman Gast'on CGC,NA,NAJ http://www.geocities.com/funnfur/Gus_the_TFT.html

All censuses taken after 1920 are still confidential and the information they contain is not open to the public. The census from 1790 through 1840 only named the head of the household and the numbers of people in categories — 3 males over 16, 2 males under 16, etc. The census from 1850 through 1920 lists each member of the household and usually gives the relationship to the head of the house. It also gives age (later years give birth month and year) and place of birth (usually just the state or foreign country). The 1890 census was almost totally destroyed by fire so there is a 20 year gap between 1880 and 1900. > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237
