Hello, I am looking for the birthplace of my great grandfather William Henry Gowen. All I know about his birth is that he was born in Maine Sept. 13, 1834 and that he married in Fort Wayne, Allen Co. IN in 1862. A cousin had him born in Penobcost, then I came across another entry for Charleston, Penobcost Co., Maine. There was also a note that he was called Henry. His occupation was as a cabinet maker, but this might have been later on in Indiana. Now and then someone in the family spelled their name Gowan. He died in California but is supposedly buried in Fort Wayne. Emily in California
