I am hoping someone will check the Index to the 1870 Census of Maine for an ALBION LAWRENCE and his wife, LYDIA LAWRENCE. Lydia, my g-g-grandmother, was born 1835, in Clearfield County, PA. After g-g-grandfather Alanson Root died in 1864, she remarried 12 September 1867 to Albion Lawrence. Neither Albion nor Lydia Lawrence are listed in the 1870 Census of Clearfield County or in the state of Pennsylvania. Through Family Search Internet, I have located several Albion Lawrences living in the state of Maine, primarily in Adroscoggin and Penobscot Counties. I believe it is possible that the Albion Lawrence who married my ancestor was from Maine and travelled to Clearfield County with others from Maine and New Brunswick to work in the timber industry. After marrying Lydia, he and Lydia may have returned to Maine (leaving at least three of Lydia's four children by her first marriage behind in Clearfield County). Albion died before 1872, when Lydia married for the third time to Isaac McKee, again in Clearfield County. I would greatly like to locate my ancestor in the 1870 census, and determine if she had her oldest child by her first marriage with her, and whether she had had any children by Albion Lawrence. I would appreciate it if someone could check the index to the 1870 Census of Maine and see if there are any Albion Lawrences enumerated there, and what counties they were in. Thank you for reading my query and for any assistance you may be able to render. Donnie Nazelrod
