    1. [ME-CENSUS] 1900/Brusa/Kennebec
    2. This is a request for a friend of mine, who is having a problem finding his grandparents from their entry into the U. S. Mr. Brusa worked in the stonecutting business around Hallowell, before moving on to Vermont with his growing family. Searching for Gian Augustino Brusa, Giovanni Augustine Brusa, or Augustino Brusa in Hallowell, Maine. His wife was Anne/a (Locarno), and there was probably one child, Joseph, purportedly born in 1898. Have found documents variously listing Mr. Brusa with any of the first names listed above. This family moved on to Vermont probably before 1910. The parents were born in Italy. Thank you for any info you can provide me on this family. Barbara

    3. I am having major difficulity locating the birth place of Silas Mason and anything at all about his family. Silas is my G.G. Grandfather and appears on the New Brunswick Canada, Canturbury Parish, Div 2 York County 1881 as Silas Mason - 37, born in the USA We do know that Silas married Mary J. Grant on March 18, 1871 and had (at least) the following children: Sherman, b. 1872 Norman b. 1873 David Roy(*) b. 1878 Harry b. 1880 Bessie b. 1882 (*) My Great Grandfather There was, I am told, a good deal of movement between the State of Maine and the Province of New Brunswick at the time so it would be logical to assume that Silas entered Canada from Maine but [unfortunately] this is by no means certain. Apologies is this is overly vague, were more information available to me it would certainly be provided. Any assistance, or even potential small leads, greatly appreciated. Marcel Mason

    1. [ME-CENSUS] 1870 Census Index - LAWRENCE
    2. Donnie Nazelrod
    3. I am hoping someone will check the Index to the 1870 Census of Maine for an ALBION LAWRENCE and his wife, LYDIA LAWRENCE. Lydia, my g-g-grandmother, was born 1835, in Clearfield County, PA. After g-g-grandfather Alanson Root died in 1864, she remarried 12 September 1867 to Albion Lawrence. Neither Albion nor Lydia Lawrence are listed in the 1870 Census of Clearfield County or in the state of Pennsylvania. Through Family Search Internet, I have located several Albion Lawrences living in the state of Maine, primarily in Adroscoggin and Penobscot Counties. I believe it is possible that the Albion Lawrence who married my ancestor was from Maine and travelled to Clearfield County with others from Maine and New Brunswick to work in the timber industry. After marrying Lydia, he and Lydia may have returned to Maine (leaving at least three of Lydia's four children by her first marriage behind in Clearfield County). Albion died before 1872, when Lydia married for the third time to Isaac McKee, again in Clearfield County. I would greatly like to locate my ancestor in the 1870 census, and determine if she had her oldest child by her first marriage with her, and whether she had had any children by Albion Lawrence. I would appreciate it if someone could check the index to the 1870 Census of Maine and see if there are any Albion Lawrences enumerated there, and what counties they were in. Thank you for reading my query and for any assistance you may be able to render. Donnie Nazelrod

    2. First off I personally will only do one lookup at a time. Secondly ages for these people would help me, there are 6 Benjamin Rowe names in 1850 ME, the first one I went to, in Kennebec, was 45, too young to have been married in 1790 but an age would still possibly help. There are no Benjamin Rowe names in either of the other counties you mention, any other ideas on places? Was he positively alive then? I'm not sure if he came to Maine with the rest of his family, or by himself. His father's name was John, born in Ireland. The name has also been spelled McElwaine, McElvain, McElivain, McEliveen. Many thanks in advance, Paula
