Dear Mr. Richards, I check my 1870 Index for Albert Richard/s and only found 3, 14 year old boys. Thankyou Dana, I was hoping not to find Minnie in Maine. I haven't done much searching for Calverts yet, she's my only one, so I don't know about the alternate spellings. I'm trying to find the marriage so that I can discover her parents. Thanks again, MaryLynn --- Dana Edgecomb <nighthawk@psouth.net> wrote: > I did a search of the New England disks. I'm new to the list and am hoping someone has access to 1880 index. I need to find CALVERT heads of household who were born in Virginia. I just hired a professional to search for a marriage record I assumed was in Connecticut, but now I realize it also could have taken place in Maine, where my gg grandfather (not Calvert)lived in 1880. I hope this isn't very time consuming, and I hope there aren't any VA Calverts! Thankyou so much, MaryLynn PS I don't have any census records, but I have the Family Tree CD Maine Marriage Index 1743-1891 if anyone would like a lookup of that. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Looking for Francois St Amand [occassionally find St Thomas used by this family] and wife Euphemie. Francois would be about 32yr old. Appreciate any help. Gail
Thanks so much for looking. Perhaps they are still in New Brunswick or the census taker greatly miss spelled their name. I've seen about 5 variations. Thanks for your help. 1870 index shows several John Richards in Maine, but the youngest one was 30. For NH, age 22. So these aren't the one you're looking for. Have you ever checked Civil War records for his father? Hello Dana, Thanks again. Hmm...could you check the 1870 index for John Richards? Since I can access (slowly) the ancestry images (I almost always strike out with the AIS index, I don't know what I'm doing wrong), I could check those first. I imagine that John Albert Richards lost his mother at an early age, and that (assuming Albert Melville Richards was his father) his father lost several wives prior to 1880. If only I could find John Albert Richards either in Maine or Pennsylvania in 1870, I would have a hit, finally.... And since I managed to find another long-lost ancestor in Pennsylvania (moving around every ten years..., first Cumberland Co., then Rock Island Co., Illinois, then back to Washington Co., Pennsylvania), I figure if I keep plugging away with Maine, or New Hampshire (or maybe even Massachusetts), I'll find John Richards age ca. 5 someone in 1870. Thanks for your help. If there is an index for 1880 or 1900 Maine census records; I'm looking for a James "Remi" Thibodeau/Thibedeau [many other variations to spelling] and wife Olive. Appreciate any help. Not sure which County. Gail

Hi Jeff; I have only the index to the 1870 census. It lists two Albert Richards, both age 14, born Maine and in Lincoln county. One enumerated in Jefferson M593 Roll 549 p. 571. One enumerated in Whitefield, M593 Roll 549 p. 715. The age indicates these are not the person you are looking for. I also looked under "Richard". Do you have any other ideas for possible spellings of the name? Hi Everyone, I apologize if you receive this more than once but I have sent it out to all of the Census-Lookup lists that I manage in hopes of reaching everyone. We seem to be experiencing a surge in membership for the last few days and I would like to cover some basics with everyone. Please bear with me. This is a result of the many emails that I have been getting =) http://www.rootsweb.com/~censlook/ has a copy of the list rules, please read them. 1. You've joined a mailing list where wonderful volunteers take the time to do lookups for other people. You will receive a copy of each message sent to the list(s) that you have joined.
