    2. Hi, The 1924 City Directory for Portland shows Hyman and Sarah Finn living at 65 Quebec St. Hyman and his brother, Nathan, were owners of a junk business at 154 Commercial. Hyman and Sarah still listed here in 1934; but were in barrel business at 154 Commercial. 1947 Directory shows James G. Johnson and his wife Charlotte at 65 Quebec. Johnson was a clerk at the post office. I know this is much later than the time period you were inquiring about; but thought it might be helpful in your house research. Good Luck Vicki Odom

    3. Hi Maryann, Thanks for the look up. Remi Thibodeau who was born 1877 is too young; my Remi was born 1856. The second peice of information was interesting. I have a Jame "Remi" Thibodeau married to Olive Gagnon 3 jul 1880. I think this date is a church record. I'll have to check. Could Garnecin be a dit name for Gagnon? No need to answer that question; I know where to go to check dit names. Thanks alot for your help. 2. I don't think I can be of any help with your questions. You might be able to find more information if you can get hold of the actual 1880 census. Have you looked for a history of Portland? There is so much on the internet, but it does take some digging sometimes (all the time??). I wish you well in your quest. Barbara

    3. Thank you, this is a big help. Do you have any idea where the "Alms House" was? I have reason to believe it was on Munjoy Hill. I'm also looking for owners of properety at 65 Quebec St. at about this same time. It was the location of EN GREELY & SONS DAIRY. It still stands today & I would like to have it put on the Landmarks marker program, but need to know the exact history of the property. Perhaps you might know of someone who might do the lookups at the Court House! EN is Edward Nelson Greely & sons are Fred & Elmer.
