I don't know old he was and I did not think of the C. standing for Captain, I kept thinking it stood for Charles, Clarence etc. I wonder where I can find out who his children were. thanks so much. lezlie MaryLynn McCloskey wrote: > You don't say how old your g grandfather was, but I > found this on the Maine marriage cd: > CAPT. All censuses taken after 1920 are still confidential and the information they contain is not open to the public. The census from 1790 through 1840 only named the head of the household and the numbers of people in categories — 3 males over 16, 2 males under 16, etc. The census from 1850 through 1920 lists each member of the household and usually gives the relationship to the head of the house. It also gives age (later years give birth month and year) and place of birth (usually just the state or foreign country). The 1890 census was almost totally destroyed by fire so there is a 20 year gap between 1880 and 1900. > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237

    2. Hello Again Dianne ~ I didn't think to look in the 1910 census, just did a search in the 1900 census that I have access to, and the info on Frank that I sent was the only Frank who came up ~ When I checked and found he was born in Maine, as were both of his parents, I figured he must be your Frank's son ~ I also found a bit more info which, I believe, is for Frank, Sr. ~ It appears Frank Sr's parents were a Sanders and Almira Curling ~ If this is your lineage, there is alot of info on a ship owned by Sanders called the "Sanders Curling," and I've copied an excerpt for you below ~ Also, the census info for the Warren family is listed at the very bottom as well :) ~Maryann~ ============================== 4 Ephraim McLELLAN (1792-1850)/Caroline WHEELER. 5 Almira McLELLAN/Sanders CURLING 2nd m. 1847. 6 Charles S. CURLING (1848-1853). 6 Frank Forrest CURLING (1850-). 6 Caroline McLellan CURLING (1852-1919). 6 Sanders E. CURLING (1855-abt 1889 ============================== The ship on which they sailed was the "SANDERS CURLING," at 1468 tons a very large ship for the times, built in 1854 at Thomaston, Maine. The captain and owner of the ship was Sanders Curling, for whom the vessel was apparently named, although it is sometimes called the "SAMUEL CURLING" in church records. According to SHIPS, SAINTS, AND MARINERS: A MARITIME ENCYCLOPEDIA OF MORMON MIGRATION 1830-1890, by Conway B. Sonne, this ship brought two emigrant companies totaling 1288 Mormons across the Atlantic; the first group in 1855 and the second in 1856. The Lant family was in the first group, sailing from Liverpool on 22 Apr 1855. Elder Israel Barlow, a returning missionary, with his counselors selors John Perry and John Robinson, presided over the 581 Latter-day Saints, the largest emigrant company up to that time, including 385 who were financed by the Perpetual Emigration Fund. The passage was rough with unusually severe storms, but Elder Barlow wrote that in spite of the severe weather, at no time did he feel that their lives were in danger, because he had prayed and seen angels with joined hands completely surrounding the ship, protecting them. They landed in New York City on 22 May 1855, after thirty days at sea. ============================== James Warren found in: Census Microfilm Records: Connecticut, Rhode Island, 1900 Lived in: 6 Ward Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island Series: T623 Microfilm: 1507 Book: 2 Page: 13 L-11 Nebraska Street Warren, James; Head; White; Male; born Sept 1850; Age 49; Married 30 years; born in England; both parents born in England; Immigrated 1873; Naturalized; Occupation: Machinist. 3. Thanks! This can't be my guy (too old) but I think it is likely to be the father or Uncle of my Parker MORRISON--this guy is making me crazy. I have an absolute location on him and his wife Blanche in Lewiston in 1918 at 80 Pine Street but am having the hardest time getting anymore information. I don't have a middle initial for him or a profession so I'm not sure about the ones in the city directory. Maybe the1 910 or 1920 census will turn up something. I didn't think my request had been "ignored" I thought maybe it had been missed OR as you said nothing was found, although I had seen people say on the list "I didn't find anything" so I was just plain unsure about what happened. 3. If someone will be doing this look-up (see below my message) I wondered if they might also look for MORRISON, Parker (possibly married to Blanche) in Androscoggin County, Lewiston in 1900--I requested this once before but got no answer so I'm not sure if someone looked it up and didn't find it, or if my request was overlooked. This same Parker MORRISON could possibly also be in the 1910 and/or 1920 census for Androscoggin County, Lewiston. Any help is appreciated. dianne ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dean Scribner" <dean.scribner@juno.com> To: <ME-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, June 10, 2002 1:44 PM Subject: [ME-CENSUS-LOOKUP] 1900 Androscoggin County: BURLEIGH, John W. > I'm looking in 1900 for the family of John W.
