    3. Maryann, This helps so much ! Thank you VERY MUCH. I think/am almost sure-that Jesse B. b. 1820 is my GG grandfather, but of course there's no one around to actually prove this is true. Only what is on the net, in the libraries, or what I receive from the great helpers on the boards-who are like Angels. I can only hope that someday I will be able to repay/help others with the info I have received. I would like to know how you came upon this info, where it comes from?? Are you related?? I have some of this same info from another source. I grew up not knowing ANYTHING about where my family came from, other than my father and grandfather FELKER. Nobody talked about the past. I have all the names I could find from censuses at ancestry.com-ME, NH, VT. All censuses taken after 1920 are still confidential and the information they contain is not open to the public. The census from 1790 through 1840 only named the head of the household and the numbers of people in categories - 3 males over 16, 2 males under 16, etc. The census from 1850 through 1920 lists each member of the household and usually gives the relationship to the head of the house. It also gives age (later years give birth month and year) and place of birth (usually just the state or foreign country). The 1890 census was almost totally destroyed by fire so there is a 20 year gap between 1880 and 1900. > > ============================== > Visit Ancestry's Library - The best collection of family history > learning and how-to articles on the Internet. > http://www.ancestry.com/learn/library > >

    1. Re: Census available
    2. The CD's on which the census is provided by the LDS does not contain everything that is in the actual census. If you have a Mormon church near you, they probably have a library and would be very pleased to order the microfilm on which the actual census pages are shown (FHL film #). It is very reasonable (I think about $3.00 for a month) and I have found the volunteers at these libraries very helpful. Good luck in your search. Barbara

    1. Re: Census available
    2. Thanks, Barbara. Yes, it does help...it's the most official documentation I have so far of the family in its entirety in one place. I had information that said that "year of marriage" was one of the questions asked in 1880. For my own information, is that not correct or did the respondent just overlook it or choose not to answer?

    2. For Katlvr9999@aol.com This is what is available on the CD for Edward Robson and his family. It does not show when or where he married, and only shows England for the pob. 1. Re: Census available
    2. I'd appreciate a lookup on the 1880 census for San Mateo Co., CA, for an Edward Robson (he should be hoh). I'm particularly interested in his and his parents' and his wife's (Elizabeth's) and her parents' places of birth (hopefully they won't be designated simply as England, but will give the county or shire as well). I would also like to know the year that Edward and Elizabeth married, as well as what Edward states is his occupation.

    3. If anyone has the above available, would they be kind enough to look up a Sally or Sarah T. Brown, probably Greene, ME - she was born in 1792/3 or 1796 and may show up on either or both censuses. Have no info on her parents/siblings/etc other than that she married Perez Drinkwater Jr. in 1813 in North Yarmouth. Also - does anyone know of a website where the 1790 census recs for Cumberland County, ME, have been transcribed and are located? I thought I'd stumbled across that info and can't find a bookmark. Many thanks. Nancy
