    3. Dear Elizabeth: I think what you will find that sometimes the name did stay--but what you will find is that as smaller bits of land were sold out of the original tract the names changed as per the owner's desire. In many of the land records you will find where a tract is listed as being part of a larger tract of land called ---whatever--and so will give the name of the parcel that is part of the larger tract. Additionally, you will find that in a number of instances indviduals who made a number of land purchases --either purchasing bits of tracts or entire tracts would have them re-surveyed and the whole of the parts would be made into one large tract which they would give a new name to. I dont't know if all that is clear to you--but hope it helps <<<Neil>>> ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, June 15, 2006 4:28 PM Subject: [MDWICOMI] Re: Tract & Land Names > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/wEB.2ACE/152.1 > > Message Board Post: > > I think the name generally stayed with the land.
