Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/wEB.2ACE/117.1 Message Board Post: Huett N. Dixon is mentioned in the 1813 will of Nelly Dixon, Worcester County, Maryland. Huett N. and Nelly Dixon were probably the children of Nathaniel Dixon and Ann Piper. Nathaniel's will was also made in Worcester County, Maryland, on Sep 12, 1812. Both wills have been abstracted by Ralph Riggin and are available on the internet. Search on goldenlyon.com. At the homepage select the Dixon family and page down to the Worcester County wills. Huit N. Dixon and Delila are mentioned on page 123 of THE FOOKS FAMILY, by Herbert C. Fooks under William Fookes of William of Benjamin of Thomas of James. The book was first published in 1953 and was recently reprinted by the LOWER DELMARVA GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY. A transcript of William Fookes' last will and testament is printed on page 124 and mentions that daughter, Delila, and heirs inherited 100 acres of land called "Addition to Hog Quarter". The will was made in 1829 and probated in Worcester County, Maryland, in 1833. It might help to find out what happened to the land. There may be clues to her descendants or evidence of a migration. The book reports that her brother, Daniel, migrated to the Cypress Creek area near Paducah Kentucky in 1830 and returned to Maryland in the 1840's to sell his inherited land. I have much information on the Piper family if you are interested.
