Dixon is mentioned in the 1813 will of Nelly Dixon, Worcester County, Maryland. Huett N. and Nelly Dixon were probably the children of Nathaniel Dixon and Ann Piper. Nathaniel's will was also made in Worcester County, Maryland, on Sep 12, 1812. Both wills have been abstracted by Ralph Riggin and are available on the internet. Search on goldenlyon.com. At the homepage select the Dixon family and page down to the Worcester County wills. Huit N. Dixon and Delila are mentioned on page 123 of THE FOOKS FAMILY, by Herbert C. Fooks under William Fookes of William of Benjamin of Thomas of James. The book was first published in 1953 and was recently reprinted by the LOWER DELMARVA GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY. A transcript of William Fookes' last will and testament is printed on page 124 and mentions that daughter, Delila, and heirs inherited 100 acres of land called "Addition to Hog Quarter". The will was made in 1829 and probated in Worcester County, Maryland, in 1833. It might help to find out what happened to the land. There may be clues to her descendants or evidence of a migration. The book reports that her brother, Daniel, migrated to the Cypress Creek area near Paducah Kentucky in 1830 and returned to Maryland in the 1840's to sell his inherited land. I have much information on the Piper family if you are interested.
If you have read my posting about going to reunions, then you know I try to get to as many as I can. The reunion season is starting and I know of a Shipley and a Hawkins-Claggett reunion. Looking at my surnames below which represent all my and Chip’s directs we know of. If you know of a reunion related to these families regardless of where it is, please let me and the lists know. I am especially looking for a Watkins reunion I heard of that takes place each May or June in Maryland. Does anyone know when this is and how I can contact them. I just thought I would tell everyone how the reunion went. We had 70 people attend and most were new people. Some of the regular couldn’t come this year but this still made for a record. Many new Norwood connections were made and many of these Norwood’s came with pictures and detailed information. The chart we had was 30 feet long and took 4 tables to lay it out. This only represented 1 child of Belt Norwood’s 13 children, Thomas M. Norwood. We determined that it would take 12 of these charts (each thirty feet long) to list everyone from Capt John Norwood on. Now that we have added so many new branches it may take more. Next year we will have more charts. Kitty needs to get all the data entered and sent to me and I will start getting them created and printed. What made this reunion very special to me was that Norman Lilly came. As it turned out, he is a Watkins researcher primarily and we are second cousins. He accidentally left one of his books of information and it was my pleasure to take it to him on the next Saturday. He has done a wonder job of untangling the many errors and problems in the currently published Watkins books. I am so glad he gave up a Sunday and came. We will be in contact very often now. I always tell people to attend reunions of families that have married heavily into your family. I have done this to three different reunions and have found many cousins closer in relations than the individual for whom the reunion is. My 6th great-grandmother is a Norwood but Norman and I are much closer. We decided that from now on the Norwood reunion would be on the LAST SUNDAY OF APRIL. Next year that makes it April 24, 2005. Put it on your calendar NOW. Many people told us they could have come if they had had more notice. NOW THIS IS NOTICE. Please come next year. Who knows we may get to meet a second cousin you were not expecting. Thanks Norman. Jane Thursby From England to Maryland by the early 1700's and still Maryland. Hi Everybody, My name is Arthur Chittenden and I am working on a one-name study - worldwide. Any information, no matter how brief, will be greatly appreciated. I shall be thappy to assist other Chittenden seekers by doing lookups and where possible putting them in contact with other researchers of our name. Best Wishes Arthur Sydney Australia.
I have no dates for the children of William Malone and Sallie Pryor. This information was passed along to me and I've not researched it to confirm anything. One of their sons, Peter Alonzo Malone (married a Mary Twilley), and a B.F. Messick built the steeple and vestibule at the Asbury UMC in Allen in 1894. Peter was also a choir director in the Allen Church early on. In a history of the Asbury Church in Allen, it mentions early choir members including Peter and a "Wood" Malone. This may have been Peter's brother, Lemuel Woodfield Malone. My connection here, by the way, was through the Pryors. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, April 23, 2004 7:32 PM Subject: Re: [MDWICOMI] Malone, Levin b. 1823; d. 1906 > This is very interesting! > > I have a Henry b. abt 1814, which could be William Henry Malone. This is very interesting! I have a Henry b. abt 1814, which could be William Henry Malone. And I knew he died before 1870. His wife was was Sarah/Sallie b. abt 1822 (according to census records). This could be Sallie Virginia Pryor, and I knew she died before 1880. When was your Lemuel born? My Henry had a brother Lemuel born about 1827. I am getting this from census records. Would love to hear more! Thanks, Karen
I have a Lemuel Woodland Malone who was a son of William (b. 3/20/1815; d. Nov. 15, 1872) and Sallie Virginia Pryor (b. 9/16/1827; d. 7/28/1898) Malone. Perhaps he was named for someone in William's family. My Malone connection is my ggrandmother, Adel Malone White, whose parents were John Malone and Roseanna Abbott. I've not thoroughly researched the Malones but these mentioned were all in the Siloam/Allen/Shad Point area of what's now in Wicomico County. I'll be glad to share some info I've gathered which includes Malones through other family connections if you're interested. Hello Fellow Listers: I am attempting to locate information on the ancestry of Levin Malone b. 8/21/1823, d. 4/28/1906. He is buried in the Washington Methodist Church Cemetery in Wicomico. His brothers were Henry and Lemuel. I am actually tracing Henry's line, but I am hoping Levin may lead me to their parents' names. I can not locate Levin's name on a death index in the Archives. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Is anyone familiar with this Malone family? Hope to hear frome somone. Karen Florida
