    3. Seeking information on my ancestral Myers family from Washington County Maryland. I have John and Mary which are very common Myers names. They resided at some point at Antietam Furnace. I suspect that John descends from Michael Myers of Sharpsburg but so far have been unable to prove this connection. This is a work in process. Additions or corrections would be greatly appreciated. He married KATHLEEN DELORES KNIGHT, daughter of EDWARD KNIGHT and ELSIE MYERS. She was born 22 Dec 1931 in Hagerstown, Washington, Maryland, and died 26 Aug 1997. Born Feb. 11, 1929, in Antietam Furnace, he was the son of the late John Luther and Mary Eve Drenner Hetzel. His wife, Kathleen Delores Hetzel, died Aug. 26, 1997. He retired in 1987 from Western Maryland Railroad in Hagerstown after 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Dixon-Troxell Post 211 American Legion in Funkstown; AMVETS Post 10, in Hagerstown; Funkstown Moose Lodge 2435; North American Rod and Gun Club; Conococheague Sportsmen's Club; Goodwill Athletic Association, and had played on the Antietam Red Birds baseball team. He is survived by one stepdaughter, Marilee Combs of Reston, Va.; one stepson, Rand L. Knight of Boonsboro; five sisters, Irene Miller of Keedysville, Ruth Statler of Marion, Pa., Alice Gardner of Antietam, Mae Kauffman of Boonsboro and June Myers of Hagerstown; one brother, Albert L. Hetzel Sr. of Sharpsburg; four stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; 18 nieces and nephews; and 26 great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, John L. Hetzel Jr. Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Boonsboro Cemetery. The Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. will officiate. There will be no viewing or visitation.
