Roger, there is a marriage for a Geo. W. Mitchell to Cornelia D. Baldwin 11/29/1833 but no Samuels. An Alexander, William H. and F. Dorsey are in marriage records. From a Torchlight entry Alexander was married to Amelia Carr dau of Col. John Carr. In 1827 her sister Mrs. Nancy Stewart, wife of Associate Reformed Church Pastor Rev. George Stewart died at their residence near Hagerstown. There is also an entry in the Torchlight Mar. 27, 1821, "Married 1st inst. by Rev. R. Finnell, Alexander Finnell, to Mrs. Catharine Mitchell, relect of J. Mitchell, decd. and dau of Samuel Hanson, Esq. formerly of Md., but now of KY, all of Clover Hill, Shenandoah co. VA." There are also Mitchells in Shephardstown including Nanthaniel who was Editor of Virginia Monitor who married Elizabeth Tabb, dau of Capt. John Tabb. on January 23, 1823. Marriage was by Rev. Helfenstein. That's about all I could turn up.
