    3. Greetings Diana Quinones. May I impose on you on the Charles Glatfelter material? ADAM (MARTHA) BUTNER and JAMES BUTNER were in the Frederick, Monacacy area in 1750 (from court record). Adam showed in NC in 1753 but James was lost somewhere. Does any Butner show in the Glatfelter material? Thank you very much for your consideration. jclayb1@cox.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "DIANA QUINONES" <audiana@msn.com> To: <MDWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, July 29, 2004 12:48 PM Subject: [MDWASHIN] Re: question on 1800 census > Jim, some tidbits according to 'Pastors and People', Vol 1, pub 1980, by Chas. Glatfelter, Conococheague settlement refers to the area about 30 miles NW of Frederick, around and west of Hagerstown. From an old map of Washington Co, it looks like it extended up to PA border, as the creek ran that way! > The Reformed were first to organize in this settlement. Rev. Michael Schlatter noted in 5/1747 when visiting Monocacy that if the congregation united with Conococheague (30 miles away), they would be able to sustain a minister. By 1752, Rev. Theodore Frankenfeld reported that he served 3 congregations - Frederick, Monocacy and Conococheague. > > Lutheran pastor Christopher Schlotz identified himself as pastor in 1761 of the 'Lutheran Congregation in Conococheague'. > Lutheran pastor, George Young, noted in 1786, that families beyond the Conococheague, nine miles west of Hagerstown, had invited him to visit and preach there some 8 years earlier. > The first church was near Route 40 on the west bank of the creek. > > Diana in AL > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Joseph J. 3. Joe, The book is about the pastors of early Lutheran/Reformed churches and history of some of the churches. It doesn't have your BUTNER name in it, but would if they were a pastor or deeded land to one of the churches there! Sorry, Diana in AL ----- Original Message ----- From: joe butner To: MDWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, July 30, 2004 12:06 PM Subject: Re: [MDWASHIN] Re: question on 1800 census Greetings Diana Quinones.
