    2. Good Afternoon, While researching the Long Meadow Church of the Brethren Cemetery for my HOFFMAN/PETRE kin, I noticed nine gravestones for the children of Jacob and Anna K. "JACOBS" MEYERS. All these children died prior to the age of three, between the years of 1888 and 1909. Most died as infants. I am not yet sure if they fit into my genealogy. So many children to have died at such a young age. Does anyone have any idea why these nine children died so young? Rebecca in West Virginia

    3. Back in those times childhood illness was a terrible thing. Not, like now, with all of the vaccines and doctors. Water born illness was the most prevalent. But, be sure that being a kid in those times was dangerous.
