I am searching for a record of the marriage of Isaac HARDEN/HARDIN to Mary and/or Catherine NEWMYER, (or any other soundex spelling) in 1787. I have been told it took place in Allegany County but since that county did not exist until 1789 thought perhaps the marriage took place in Washington County from which Allegany was formed. Thanks for any assistance anyone can give me. Agnes Donnelly Penn Laird, VA
Agnes, Neither are listed in Morrow and Morrow's index to marriages which runs from 1799 - 1860. The marriage records from 1776- 1798 were destroyed in a courthouse fire according to Morrow and Morrow so you might have to try church records. Hopefully those with church record resources on the list will give you a lookup in what they have. Agnes, You may have seen this when you checked the Allegany Co. Marriages online but in case you did not - George Harden took a license to marry Margaret Newmyer on 9/15/1823 in Allegany Co., MD.
