In 1776 one Jacob Hoover and Jacob Harbaugh took out a mortgage to purchase 200 acres in a tract near Hagerstown called the “Third Resurvey of Sarah’s Delight.”  Two years later, after they had paid off the mortgage, Hoover conveyed his share to Harbaugh.  I would like to know more information on which Jacob Hoover this was i.e. the name of his wife, or approximate birth or death dates.    It is said that the place where the Harbaughs settled was later called “Harbaugh’s Valley” , and was first settled 1758-9 by a Swiss colony, and was later called “Hauver’s”  Is the latter a corruption of “Hoover’s?”?     RB; please respond to this list or to: [email protected]   >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Eight generation 128.
