Ok folks I have gone thru all of the msgs etc that I received regarding the Hessians and here is the complete recap. It has been interesting and during the process I found another one mine and a living relative. While I have looked at the Hessian's before, I was struck as how many were actually involved and the number of regiments and I knew that George Washington's Army was over 25% Ulsterscots and the second largest group were Germans and between them they were 50% of his army On June 20, 1777 the Hessian Barracks were built in Frederick, Maryland to house these prisoners. I have been given quite a few names of German genealogical researchers and apparently most charge for their services, so you should ask in advance what their fee will be.The following are URL's to both researchers and to historical sites regarding the Hessian's. I hope that those who do so and find additional information will share it with the rest of us. http://www.argen.org/directory/searchresults.htm Hessian history located at Franklin & Marshall College go to: Johannes schaalm historical collection at F&M Genealogists: Roland Geiger in Germany at: [email protected] there sources: http://bobhudson.com/zeth/index.html http://www.feeths.org/links/germany.html http://silvie.tripod.com/hessian.html http://en.wikpedia.org/wiki/germans in the american revolutiion history.army.mil/reference/revbib/germ.htm Gordon Crooks
