    3. Mike, I have concluded that my Stoners switched from Mennonite to Brethren around 1730. There are many examples of Mennonite-Brethren marriages and creed changes. I have seen them in both directions, but Mennonite to Brethren was more common. The beliefs are similar in most respects. Both were pacifist, with many members of both groups getting in hot water during the Revolution. Perhaps the biggest difference was the method of baptism. The surnames in Brenda's original message are closely tied in my Stoner family in Washington Co, MD & Franklin Co, PA. I suspect that she should be looking for the Elizabeth Barr who married into my Stoners Regards, Richard R.
