Donna: I am looking for BOWERS in early Maryland. My husband's 4th gr. grandfather was John Leonard Bowers and he enlisted in the Rev. Army in 1776 in Hagerstown. I have seen the name spelled Bowars, Boward, Bauer in addition to the BOWERS. I am looking for any and all information on Bowers or similar spellings in that area for that time period in Frederick or Washington Counties.
